Terrible stay
I chose this hotel because it had very good ratings. What a disappointment! The only person during my entire stay that was wearing a face mask in this hotel was the lady who worked the breakfast area.!!! There were a couple of disappointments initially that are not in the least bit important: there’s not a single picture on the walls so it is hardly comfy, and the clock was an hour and a half off… Which would indicate a lack of attention to the room. But it looked fine so I went out and I got dinner to bring in, and settled down to watch the election results come in. The TV did not turn on! The lady in the reception area came up to the room, mask less, and turned the TV on from the back of the set. However, the remote control did not work so she went down to the desk… And there were absolutely no batteries anywhere in the hotel! She then started searching unoccupied rooms to attempt to find a remote that would work with the TV in my bedroom. She could not find any. So I went to the living room area to watch TV there and found that the couch was completely broken and not usable. The metal apparatus inside that was the pull out was completely bent so the couch sunk in approximately 10 inches in the center area, making it impossible to sit on. Again, the receptionist lady witnessed this and said that she would go downstairs and take some thing off my bill. I never heard from her again. The next morning I checked in the reception area and was told that nothing had been adjusted on my bill whatsoever because I had used points to stay there.
Horrible customer service
We traveled from Asheville to Knoxville for a baseball tournament for our teenage son, which we have done hundreds of times. I modified the reservation, per the hotel policy, within 48 hours of arrival. Apparently a "glitch" in the system did not notify the hotel and they did not receive the cancellation. Choice sent a confirmation with the new balance and the new confirmation number to me as a guest. No one from either the hotel or Choice seemed concerned that I was overcharged. I have never in the 35 years I have traveled had such incompetent customer service, and to top it off the bathroom was disgusting with mold. The television screen was so distorted you could not even see the picture clearly.
Road trip
We stayed last night in Knoxville, and the bed was comfortable in our suite. This one was a little older than the Comfort Suites we stayed in the previous night, and had actual towell racks which I much prefer over knobs and hooks. We're trying to stay in suites whenever possible on this trip as we are bringing take out dinners with us and the suite make it more comfortable for eating, in Covid-18 times. The breakfasts are disappointing these days, but understandable, this was one of the better ones.
Stay here if you need a clean, nice, reasonably priced hotel near Knoxville Tennessee
Nice staff, clean hotel, good mattresses, nice towels and bed linens.Sofa bed was comfortable. Felt safe. Don't hesitate to stay here. Breakfast was classic Comfort Inn food, but had variety, and was kept well-stocked. I would stay here again any time, and would recommend to friends and family. We knew we would be arriving late in the evening after a long day of driving, and asked for the sofa bed to be pulled out and made up. It was done, even before I called around noon to check on it, and spoke with the nicest staff person on the telephone. We were having some car issues in the morning, and one of the staff outside asked if we needed help, and then asked again when we not very convincingly said "no". All around nice place. Stay here!
Unsympathetic to Late Cancellations for Illness
We had booked this hotel for a 1-night stay because our 3 children were scheduled to compete in the AAU National XC Championships in Knoxville. Unfortunately, one of the children fell ill with a stomach virus and we were forced to cancel our trip. He was up throughout the night with stomach pains, so we took him to his pediatrician that Friday morning. He was diagnosed with a contagious stomach flu, given a note for school, and advised to stay in bed for the next 2 days. Our kids were devastated that they couldn't compete in the race. We called the hotel and spoke with several employees, including Gwenn, the hotel manager. While all were cordial, none were sympathetic to the unplanned and uncontrollable illness. We offered to provide a copy of the doctor's note to confirm that we had a legitimate reason for needing to cancel. Ultimately, Gwenn told us there was nothing they could do and that we were out $150 for the room because we didn't cancel within the acceptable window, although there was no way we could have predicted that one of our children would be come ill and be advised by our pediatrician that he could not travel. Buyer beware.
