Beautiful Villa and Resort for Couples

Reviewed 21 november, 2022

I would like to start by saying that we really loved our time at Cape Fahn. I think to be as impressed as we are, you need to understand our reason for our choice of hotel. We have previously travelled to Ko Samui many times and usually stay in the Chaweng area. This time we wanted a holiday to get away, this was our first overseas holiday since Covid. The most important things for us, privacy, our own space, a great view, space in the room and our own personal pool. We did not want to do the tourist attractions or a large communal pool. In this sense Cape Fahn met our expectations. I would say that whilst staying there, the occupancy rate seemed to be around 30% or 40% based on the people we saw at breakfast. It seemed there are a few couples that come for only 1 or 2 nights, we stayed for 7 nights I think for a balanced review I should provide some positives and negatives. Positives 1. Room – we stayed in an ocean view villa. I think from walking around the island, I could say that our villa was the best of the ocean view villas (based on location, albeit I did not look through any others). We stay in Vila 19, and we would recommend asking for this villa. The villa itself was beautiful, the décor and furnishings were just beautiful. There was no need for us to leave the villa, in fact we only left for breakfast and dinner. The bifold doors onto the pool and deck were just awesome. There was no better feeling than waking up to the ocean view in the morning. Never did we draw the blinds as no one could see in, so waking up in the morning to the sun rise was just awesome. That brings me to the location of the villa No 19, which was at the top of the island and there no other villas that could see in, in fact we were on the corner of the island, so from the pool and bedroom you had 270 degree views of ocean and gardens. The actual décor and layout were just great. To be honest we did not really use the outdoor shower area during our stay. 2. Villa Pool - as I have said we wanted a holiday that we could get away. Having your own pool, including the jetted area was great. The pool itself was a great size, it was bigger that the usual pool villa size. 3. Staff – these guys were great. The occupancy rate was not high when we were there, but as usually the Thai friendlessness was just awesome, you could not ask for more of the staff, they are a credit to the resort 4. Dining – whilst I will also say this is a negative, it was also a positive. The food at Lond Dthai was just awesome . The Yellow curry was probably the best curry I have every had. Also breakfast was great. At breakfast you have the same al a carte menu each day, but the small buffet select changes each day. We did do the floating breakfast (which you choose the options/menu) which is a must do. Negatives 1. In room entertainment – as we spent all our time in the room, including in room dining, the TV selection was really limited. The only English TV selection was 3 news channels. Whilst the room offers a smart LG TV, we could not access or link our Netflix as the previous guest has set their language to Korean (I believe), so we could not log out and log onto our account. We were able to share our Ipad, but I think a suggestion for managements would be to include more standard satellite channels for clients. There were a lot of Thai channels, but catering for overseas clients, there should be more choice. 2. In room information – there was very little information provided about the resort, room and facilities. On arrival we were provided a tour in the buggy, but there was no information provided about the transport back to Choenmong beach for example. I was not sure what the process was going to be if we left the island and came back later that night to get back to the island. There is an APP that you download, but for my question there was not any answers. I think they just need to provide (like) and FAQ section to the APP which would help. I asked the question and it was answered by the front desk anyway. 3. Dining – whilst I will preface this be saying the dining and meals we had Long Dthai were awesome, on most nights we felt the in room menu provided better selections. I think most of the in room dining comes from the restaurant on the beach rather than Long Dthai, whilst we stayed there was no other people or atmosphere around, hence we order in room. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. At the time were we there, I do not think there was a great level of long term occupancy. We did see some couples that only stayed a night or two. I would recommend staying here, but, It I think you need to understand what you want out of your holiday experience. If you want a high energy, active Ko Samui holiday, I am not sure if this is the place for you. I think this suits a couple that is looking for a luxury, relaxing escape and privacy. Suggestions 1. On arrival – when taken to the room, you should open up all the blinds/curtains. When you walk into a room with such an awesome view it makes a better impression and wow factor when you can see it rather than the view being covered. 2. Maintenance – there are no specific issues, but you could see some things starting to age very quickly (given the environment). I think you should accelerate the maintenance before the getting negative comments given the price we pay. 3. Atmosphere – I think this could be improved around the restaurants and pool area. Simply a chilled background music could be played 4. Information - some better communication would be helpful. As an example every day there was a banging noise from about 4 to 7pm, I reported this on the app but only at the end of our stay they said this is normal and a water pump, on the first night we thought that noise would continue all night. Once we knew it was ok and understandable given you are on an island

A luxury escape with Family

We chose to celebrate mom’s birthday at Cape Fahn Hotel since she was fond of Cape Kudu which was a hotel of the same group. Hoping to impress her, we planned to book an Ocean View Villa however that week the hotel was fully occupied and there was only one pool villa left which was a two-bedroom Tropical Pool Villa. Although it was a bit far from the ocean in comparison with other villas, our villa was really huge with two-bedroom (separate buildings), a large private pool and a private pavilion with 4-5 bead bean bags. You can just stay there whole day indulging in the tropical nature and enjoying a stunning view of sparkling water surface on wide ocean sea. Our two bedrooms had a lofty ceiling and were decorated with light colored wood, white interior, and natural materials/decorations. Each bedroom was connected to the pool deck. When we opened the glass sliding door, it turned the bedrooms into an open-air space. We really love it. It just like you are in the nature but still fully equipped with modern facilities and amenities. There was light in the pool which gave us a pretty ambience at night where we enjoyed our conversations and beverages at the pool-side. We were impressed by every detail of this island paradise. The decorations of other facilities such as reception lobby, main pool and its surrounding, restaurants and bar were so pretty and modern. We also took a walk around the hotel and visited an extensive courtyard at the backside of the hotel where many couples hold their wedding reception. However, my most favorite place was at the deck next to the breakfast place which offered one of the best panoramic views of the sea. I bet this is one of the best breakfast sceneries. Lastly, the staffs were nice and helpful which perfectly completed our family trip of the year. Hope to be back again soon!

Wonderful…. well… everything

I was here for the first time for sunset dinner at Long tai restaurant. I was impressed with the food and the view. So I went again for a 2-night stay with my family. My family was quite picky. We always need a beach to walk (low tide), water activities (kayak, paddling), gym, netflix, and good breakfasts. This place hit all 5 marks. We loved the feeling of a full rest with all outdoor stuffs available. :)) While it is on private islands, the hotel was on good location. We did rent a car to do food tour. Everything was a far at all even wine shop. It is a great change from some Samui hectic scene. The staff was also super nice about our changing requests and preparing our rooms. Thank you again.

Disappointed experience

Property is very good but service was far below expectation. Staff was unprofessional, careless and could not understand the guest’s inquiry. No empathy and responsibility. Never say “sorry”, unbelievable! Lack of manpower.

Sinister hotel and staff not competitive

Reviewed 29 july, 2022

We went to the hotel really excited because it was a special night for us. As the room was not ready when we arrived, we stayed in the main swimming pool which was full of leaves and not very clean which surprised us regarding is a five star hotel. We booked the best villa of the hotel, and when we check in the room, the table was full of ants eating one cake that the hotel provided as a birthday surprise, so we had to return the cake to the staff because we did not want to eat the cake in that situation. After this, we ordered a burger for lunch, and we used the app the hotels provides for roomservice, but they brought us a wrong burger and finally two hours later they brought us the correct one (and the hotel charged us the burguer anyway). The villa was really modern and had really beautiful views, so if you look for a nice villa is OK but the service of the hotel is not a five star hotel service. Moreover, we realized the private swimming pool of the villa was dirty with something that look like papers, so we had to ask to clean it (this is not acceptable for the hotel level and the price of the villa). The breakfast was not what we expected, and the staff of the hotel in general didn’t speak good english so it was difficult to communicate with them. Also the GM of the hotel did not say a word to us. Definitely, we wouldn’t recommend this hotel, it is really overpriced for the service that offers, the villas are nice but not really worth it.
