Great diving staff, right on the water, pretty resort. You can jump off the end of the pier and start scuba or snorkeling - a few steps from the dive shop where you get all your equipment, on the same pier. Or, you can take a scuba boat. Great sandy beach overlooking the ocean (but not exactly on the ocean) and a terrific swimming pool. Patient scuba instructors if you are just starting. I went to several companies during my 2-week stay and this sure beat VIP Diving by a mile. Terrific location within walking distance of downtown on the water and ideal for scuba diving.
Buddy dive… getting run down

Buudy dive has an amazing location and view on Bonaire. Unfortunately , it is getting very run down and needs a rehab! Landscaping , walkways , beds, finding an outlet that works is amongst some of the things that need improvement. We had a leak in our room which we brought to managements attention. We were asked if we wanted it fixed snd we said yes or move us. A crew came the next day and work on our roof hammering , banging and repairing the roof for 2 days. They took away our privacy and our patio for 2 days . It rained again that night and the roof still leaked ! We once again brought it to managements attention but that’s as far as it went. Next time we will stay elsewhere . Sorry Buddy🙁
Shore dive capital of the world

I went to Bonaire through American Divers International. 12 of us arrived for a week of shore diving. I got a one bedroom apartment on the first floor. Nice accommodations. After our briefing from the dive shop we checked out our trucks. Yes, each room can rent a pickup truck for the week. You can then go to the drive-thru to pick up tanks, analyze Nitrox and wash gear. There are 100 shore dive spots around the island. The paths to some sites are rough. Don’t expect paved trails. Some sites you walk into the water, others have stairs or ladders and a couple require you to jump from the ledge. Go online and read about the different entry points. I did three to five dives a day. One site was a 1 1/2 hour drive that took an afternoon to do one drive. You are definitely off the beaten path. We did do a few boat dives to Klein Bonaire which is a nearby island. Read the online reports about each site you wish to visit. Some are not for new divers. The hotel offers breakfast each morning. European or American. I love European bread!! There is a another restaurant for lunch and dinner, but there are other places in the community to visit. I got 20 great dives. From wreck to reefs, night dives and even a reverse night dive, you enter the water before dawn. I think this is a place every adventurous diver should have on their bucket list.

Don't like boat dives? Then this is a good place for you! They had not enuf boats for individual divers. My whole stay, bately got in 6 tanks in, usually get 18 in same 7 day stay. No no no they say, we have no room. All other resorts on island had enough for their guests. ( cap dons, divi, dive friends, etc). No room for us at weekly BBQ. They treated us like crap, cater to large groups. Never again staying here, i visit Bonaire every year or 2, worst bar none that I have been treated.
Fun first trip!

We spent a week diving/staying with Buddy Dive over Thanksgiving this year. All you need in one location...boat dives, tank rentals, car rental, accommodations, and food. Made it super easy to maximize our one week of diving. Took our 12 year old and she had a great time diving the beautiful walls and exploring the island. Very easy to get around, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing to note is the food service was very slow. You're on vacation so not a big deal, but plan ahead if you are trying to coordinate around boat diving, etc. We will definitely come back again! Special thanks to Paolo, Gwen, Jack, Baptiste and Mano for great boat dives, and to all of the support staff working to keep tanks filled, etc.
