Relaxing weekend away

We enjoyed the views from the hot tub. The food at the restaurant was great and the service always friendly and attentative. It was a memorable way to spend our wedding anniversary. Loved the natural reed bed filtration of the swimming pool.

Almost perfect but Small Touches Missing

The Cradle Boutique is almost perfect. For the type of hotel it needs the smaller personal touches looked at. The restaurant did not honour our specific table reservations. Our reserved tables were allocated to other guests before we got there - on time, not late. There are no snacks in the room or available to purchase to enjoy with the tea/coffee. If not free, please offer them for sale. The in room massages are really good and worth the effort. The long walks in the property are a real must! The location near to Pretoria and Johannesburg is a real plus! The staff are all superb in their service and extremely friendly. We were there for our anniversary, which reservations were aware of, but no sign of something personal or acknowledgement of the fact. Pity! So, in short, attention to the little finer things would give the venue a 5!

Add to Bucket List

What an exceptional place to visit. Nothing is too much trouble, not request is too far fetched. Love the privacy and being able to do what you want at your pace. The game drive with Alistair was a highlight with his humble, yet passionate relationship with nature. His knowledge of the area is commendable and quite enlightening

Peace, Tranquility & a Great Night's Sleep

Set in a tranquil location within a stone's throw away from Johannesburg or Pretoria, The Cradle Boutique Hotel offers an ideal opportunity for a quick mid-week or weekend getaway. One has a choice of spending their stay in a Luxury Tent or a 'hotel room', which turns, out is a very comfortable, standalone chalet. I was fortunate enough to be a guest at a conference and chose the chalet option for my two-night stay. On arrival to the hotel, one parks at the designated parking area and promptly gets whisked away to reception by courtesy of a golf cart and a friendly driver. The check-in process is efficient and it's back onto the golf cart and heading for your room. Once at your room, you are led onto a wonderful large deck furnished with a couple of comfortable deck chairs and two directors chairs, offering you options as to how you will be enjoying the sunset later in the day. On entering the room, more promises of a very relaxing time are made with the presence of one of the biggest and as it turned out, most comfortable beds I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping on, attracts your attention. A flat screen TV, kettle, bar fridge, a safe, a couple of comfy chairs and plenty of cupboard space complete the living/bedroom area. Not to sound ungrateful, but half of the chalet space is taken up by the bathroom, which offers a lovely bathtub, spacious shower and not one, but two basins with hand and bath towels for every occasion. Having chosen solitude over socializing, I opted for the room-service dining option on both nights and on both occasions was served quickly, but found the food to be 'okayish' (reads fine, did the job, but lacked that 'boutique' punch). The food served during our conference, although it was a finger food offering, was very good. Unfortunately, I did not experience the restaurant/bar, a visit to the museum located on the premises or get to go on a game drive, but I will definitely do so on my next visit. If you are on the market for a very peaceful, relaxing or even romantic getaway, The Cradle Boutique Hotel should feature quite high on your list.

A disappointing Sky Room stay

Reviewed 3 november, 2022

We went for a nights getaway choosing this room for the hype on the website and local billboard. Basically a container shakes into a ‘luxury room’. The only thing I could compliment the room on was the bed which was big and comfortable. It took 3 hours to cool the room down (once the Aircon was put on) and the floor was filthy. We were asked for feedback after our stay and we gave them extensive, constructive feedback, they then asked - as our rating of the overall stay was poor - could they contact us for further discussion which of course I agreed to. Nothing! We’ve recently had friends and family stay there and the overall feeling is of being overpriced and underwhelming (which is a shame as the staff are exceptional). It’s a smoke and mirrors experience but could most certainly be improved if they took feedback seriously
