Standard TownePlace, nice location and parking

Reviewed 5 october, 2022

The location is excellent, downtown a block off of Mass street, so walking to everything is very easy. The hotel is a standard TownePlace, rooms are as expected. Breakfast is the standard freebie, nothing good or bad. Parking is nice, it is a parking garage, and in the winter this has a lot of value in the midwest!

Great Location But That's All

Reviewed 16 october, 2021

We were passing through last Sunday after having been stranded in Denver by Southwest Airlines and had to drive back home to NC. It was dark when we arrived; it was raining; and apparently it was spring break because the streets were virtually empty. The front desk guy was very nice but referred us to a dive for a sports bar and we ended up at a Mexican place. The breakfast was minimal for the amount we paid for the hotel. The underground parking was nice. The room was just average and there was no ice bucket. The exterior of the refrigerator was disgustingly filthy.

Travelers Be Aware! Check Your Beds !!!

Reviewed 17 september, 2021

First off, this is a nice hotel and is in a great location with lots of shopping, eating, and nightlife. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the Lawrence area and it is a very clean hotel. Also, they are taking this pandemic very seriously as the staff are are all masked and even the housekeepers Don on a mask as you pass them in the hallways, but this is where the niceties end... I should of had forethought and checked my bed thoroughly before I even brought my items into the room, but with this being a new hotel and such a nice property I didn't. The first thing I experienced that was not right is that I am a Gold Elite Bonvouy member and thus I do get a "complimentary room upgrade" upon check-in (depending on availability at time of check-in) and since I was paying with a discounted rate I could get that upgrade but not at the discount. So, it wasn't a "complimentary upgrade" even though they did have rooms I could upgrade to My first night was a true nightmare as I woke up at 12:30 AM scratching my arms like crazy. So, I stripped the bed and crawling on my pillow was a live bed bug!!! I took a picture of this and went down to the front desk and immediately complained. The overnight clerk reported it to the management and housekeeping and switched me rooms. The new room was exactly what I originally had and due to the issue of the bed bugs I wasn't offered any compensations for everything I went through and had to buy to get rid of those nasty suckered other than a "Thank You For Staying At Our Hotel, Please Come Back Again" I did talk to a front desk manager even though I tried to talk to the general manager buy she was out and not available. The manager I did talk to told me that they are looking into this situation and are taking appropriate measures to get rid of them. Excuse me but if you trained your housekeeping staff and management on how to look for these bugs in the first place this wouldn't of happened. I am to be exempt from paying state and city taxes and I asked that manager to check my portfolio to see if those taxes have been taken off of my bill. She checked and told me they were, but when I checked out they were NOT and thus the front desk gal had to reimburse me for those charges. Not only was I not compensated for the situation of the bed bugs but the front desk manager lied to me. If that is the case then I highly doubt they got rid of the bed bugs in my first room I was in. Also, there is a mold situation going on on the 2nd floor due to their ice maker that has the carpeting in front of it so sopping wet that there is standing water, and it was like that the whole week I stayed here. I will never return back to this hotel again, but wanted to warn travelers to be aware of this property.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced

Reviewed 27 june, 2021

A couple of friends and I were in town for the night and booked this hotel because our families are Marriott members. We go to get checked in and the lady working the front desk, Skye, informs us you have to be 21 to check-in. Okay, no problem our friend who was 21 was on the way. When the 21-year-old got there to check us in she tried telling us that every member of the room had to be 21 (even though it says this nowhere on the website). We went outside to call customer service and try to get things sorted out and when we came back in, Skye had given our hotel room away leaving us stranded with nowhere to stay. The manager, whom I had to talk to on the phone as she was not there, was of no help. In the midst of all of this chaos, we were greeted with nothing but disrespect and did not get one apology. Skye even made a comment about us using "dad's money" for a hotel we were paying for ourselves. Thank goodness the Eldrige down the street had an open room as we were left to scramble to find somewhere to stay (would definitely recommend The Eldridge if you are needing a place to stay on Mass St). Overall, I was appalled by the way we were treated and would give this place a 0/5 rating if I was able to.

Great downtown location

Reviewed 22 february, 2021

This hotel was perfect for our weekend mini vacation. The property was very clean and the staff was always friendly. Hot tub and pool area was great as well. Lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance which was great. Busy downtown area with lots of activity if that's what you are looking for. It was nice to have a full kitchen even though we didn't do much cook, full size fridge and freezer was awesome. Beds were super comfy as well. Loved our stay and we will return.
