Such a let down
Opinión escrita el 20 de Julio de 2021
Such a let down. Thé hotel had so much potential as the pictures look great but was let down on day 1 by the staff and specifically the owner’s wife who is incredibly rude and obnoxious. She flaunts round the hotel flirting with guests she likes / locals from around the area giving preferential treatment whilst ignoring others.
The entertainment / band clearly became very friendly with other female hotel guests paying a visit to their room inappropriately.
Thé kids pool had 7 beds around which are often occupied. No one commented when the kids I believe related to the owners wife spent the day in the adult only pool.
They make you pay for pool towels even though there is nothing upfront on their communication about it. They insist it is normal which it isn’t given the past 3 hotels I’ve stayed in. They say they don’t provide them as the manager told me they are not a spa hotel. She needs to do her research as the word spa is in all their signage and all their marketing materials. They have scrimped on things that so many 3 star hotels would provide. Thé wifi was terrible.
Thé breakfast is the most basic offering for 22€ per person and 12€ for kids. No hot food. They just provide scrambled eggs like warm as if the chef has freshly made it but clearly he hadn’t. The service was terrible with only 1 member of staff working all morning, of course whilst the owner’s wife sits and has breakfast with her preferred guests. The seagulls fly around picking up all the leftover food as one waiter can’t clear it quick enough.
Overall it’s not at all thé worth the money at over 400€ per night. Stay at Hotel de la Plage 10 mins down the road with access to a private beach, plenty of restaurants within walking distance (you have to drive from Spinaker) and the staff are the most welcoming people that couldn’t do enough for you.
Great location, average service.

We spent one week at Le Spinaker and enjoyed the location and the views. The restaurant was a bit disappointing. The menu never changed, the between-meal offerings were limited (club sandwiches made largely of hard boiled eggs and large chunks of some bird). Why not offer a nice Croque-Monsieur or olives with an afternoon drink? For people who spend the entire week there, Spinaker Restaurant offers too little. Three times, our dinner was not up to par (over cooked, undercooked, wilted brown lettuce leafs). They seem to focus more on the sailing clientele that occasionally stops by for a fancy dinner. The attentiveness of the staff varied. The mini Bar could have contained more than a 0,35 liter Champagne for 47 Euro, two small bottles of water and a small tube of chips. In the heat, a complimentary bottle of water would have been nice. The rooms are sparse, modern and clean. WiFi worked most of the time. We were not able to use the spa due to COVID-19 measures.

Living the dream

On a solo cycling trip along the Mediterranean coast and having averaged a daily 110km, I thought it time to spoil myself with a bit of luxury. Delighted to say that Le Spinaker Hotel certainly put a huge smile on my face. The staff and especially my spacious room and the two outdoor pools were top class. Following a great night’s sleep, I then had the unexpected pleasure of meeting the actual owner, the charming Veronika Thierry, who thankfully persuaded me to avail of their morning buffet instead of just my intended coffee. Well, all I can say is that I’m delighted I met her - what a wonderful breakfast with perhaps the best fresh fruit and home made compotes. Delicious.
I’m afraid my biking schedule has been compromised as I’ve decided to treat myself to a little Post breakfast snooze by the pool. Happiness is time spent at Le Spinaker.
