Booking a trip before the Covid-19 Pandemic
Opinión escrita el 28 de Novembre de 2020
I booked a trip in early 2020 to stay at this hotel over new years eve with a large group of 25 travelers, unbeknownst to us that the Covid-19 Pandemic would halt all air travel and change vacation plans for millions of people, not to mention causing economic pressure on hotels and restaurants globally. I used a third party site for my booking, hotels.com, which had stated the cancellation policy as having a 30% non-refundable deposit, refundable only if the property was closed due to the pandemic. I pre-paid for my entire stay, with those funds staying in escrow by hotels.com until my arrival. Upon my arrival the hotel would receive my funds, so up until my stay they had not received any deposit or other money relating to my stay.
In November 2020 the French government made the tough and unfortunate decision to temporarily close all ski resorts until January 2021 to halt a rising surge in Covid cases. I requested a cancellation of my booking with my third party site and was told my deposit was not refundable, with no specific reason or valid explanation provided. After countless hours on the phone, emails back and forth with hotels.com, Karine, the general manager of Le Tremplin stepped in and strongly supported the full refund of my hotel booking. Without her help hotels.com would have kept my $800 deposit. Karine is incredibly helpful and patient and wanted to do right for all of her customers. Amidst all of the stress of the pandemic and mass cancellations and refunds she still took the time to fight hotels.com for my refund, even though it had no direct impact on the hotel as their obligation was fulfilled and they did not receive or expect any funds from my booking.
I would strongly recommend booking directly with the hotel where possible as my refund issue, which took 5 days, 20+ phone calls and 40+ emails to resolve, would have been sorted within minutes if I had booked directly with Le Tremplin.
I will book with Le Tremplin again once open and travel restrictions are lifted, however I will never use a third party service for booking again.

Such a shame about this hotel as the location is excellent and the staff were reasonably helpful. Despite this I was really disappointed. There was not tea available at breakfast or eggs on some mornings. There was also not tea making facilities in the rooms which were tiny. Also when checking out the receptionist initially charged €4 for biscuits that had been left in the rooms and appeared to be gratis. To the receptionist credit she did remove the charge after speaking with her manager although we still felt we had been tricked. Hungry kids will eat biscuits left in hotel rooms after skiing and this just felt like a ruse.
Perfect spot for exploring Meribel

We had such a lovely stay at Le Tremplin. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, breakfast was good, and the location is excellent - so close to the lifts to get up on the slopes. Also easy walking distance from lots of bars and restaurants. Great ski and boot room and although we didn’t actually use it, the pool and spa facilities looked lovely. Staff were also super helpful when our flight home was cancelled on the Sunday due to storms in England. We weren’t sure if we would have to stay another night or not and they let us keep our room until 3pm for no extra charge. We really appreciated this. Would highly recommend for a ski break!
Cozy and pleasant staying in Tremplin for a ski vacation

Despite the fact rooms are quite small, they are quite convenient and fresh. Great location is one of the reasons we chose this hotel: you just need to cross the road to get to the ski center and max 10 min to get to the town centre where you can find some shops and a supermarket! Moreover, except a nice restaurant which takes place in the same building there are about 5 great restaurants nearby the hotel, so you don’t need to walk a lot to dine out, btw i advise you to visit Brassiere 80 for the most delicious fondue ;) Staff was just adorable and very hospitable, cleaning twice a day was more than enough and we enjoyed a lot the NY celebration in Marius on the first floor. The food was really delicious! Thanks for great memories and emotions🏔

We visited as a group the second weekend of January.
Location super convenient for the slopes, hotel very nice and tidy with new rooms, rich breakfast.
We had many requests and back and forth as a group and staff were super nice and helpful. Thank you!
