Great short stay
Reviewed 4 September, 2021
Booked this hotel last minute after travel plans were disrupted due to weather and it was perfect. It has a great location - close to the airport and a quick walk to Walmart (which was needed after the airline lost our bags). Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, food was good, and amenities and grounds were beautiful.
From mediocre to worse... 😣

I have been guest of this hotel for more than 30 years since first time I came. I won't say it hasn't had issues before; but I keep coming because it's close to the center and has nice grounds... but this last experience is a lowest point which leads me to believe that after covid, the hotel has fallen in another management which is making things worse instead of better. :( The fact that this time in traveling with my kids makes it even sadder having such a bad experience.
Among "new" things, now the hotel makes you sign an unfriendly disclaimer that accurately indicates you the "amounts you will have to pay" for example if you don't turn back towels from the pool (!), or you bring the ones off the rooms, or you lose keys etc sometimes nonsensically repeating these warnings across the paper, leaving you the message flavor "we're dealing with you on duty but here you're the enemy". Other new thing is that breakfast is open ONLY 2 HOURS, from 7 to 9. If you arrive at 9:15, sorry, but it's already past the time, and you and your family (INCLUDING TWO KIDS) have to go hungry even if you paid for breakfast. More than sad, even cruel. BTW I know the waiter of the restaurant since I was an adolescent and he used to be such a nice guy... what happened to him????... ANOTHER "management change"?...
During the whole stay there were drillings and huge noises stopping just at sleep hours. But well... at least this time the cleaning lady didn't come in my room while I was naked, like other time; nor we found cockroaches in the room. To avoid the last, on my request the hotel spread insecticide, they did it though just before we checked in, so we had to leave the room some hours before the venom dissipated.
All in all quite desolate that there is so little hotel quality in Liberia, and it keeps going worse.
A nice respite from a long travel day

We had a late night arrival into Liberia and decided to stay here for a night before heading off to the beach.
Overall, a great little hotel that did the job! The beds are on the firm side but not hard. A very nice picture window that overlooked the courtyard/pool area.
The bathroom looked a bit tired (tilework needs some repairs/refresh) but the shower was hot and great pressure.
Breakfast was hot, fresh, and free. Fruit, rice and beans, plantains and eggs. A great cup of coffee!
We had a quick swim in the morning. It looked like they were doing some repairs to the pools, only one of the two was open. A nice big pool - does attract bugs, which they were trying to mitigate.
Some fun bird watching from the pool area, including a pair of peacocks wandering around the property.
We were hoping to get lunch prior to our transport company picking us up at 1:00. Strangely, this hotels restaurant doesn't open for lunch until 2:00. However there are restaurants within walking distance - turn right and walk a couple blocks. Also a Subway directly across the street (crossing can be a little tricky though!).
Overall, I think this was a great choice for our needs, and reasonably priced ($99).
Poor aplication of COVID protocols
Reviewed 31 January, 2021
When we arrived at the hotel we saw COVID protocol advertising, but the thruth is that they were not applied. People without a mask talking over the food during breakfast and the lady in charge of distribuiting food did nothing, when I told her about it she said that if I wanted she could give me clean food from the kitchen, but she never change the food for the rest of the guests. A lot of guests didn't ware masks and the hotel personnel didn't say or do anything. The pool was dirty.

We stayed at the Best Western in Liberia, Costa Rica, and enjoyed every minute. The most striking and beautiful part are the grounds, like a park, lovely trees and tropical plantings. There are peacocks strutting around, walk ways with benches, two swimming pools and an outdoor cabana for dining. From our huge window, we could see tropical plantings, so lovely and cool.
The food: must try the chicken Milanese, so juicy and tender, with vegetables and French fries. The pizza is great. Breakfast is lovely too. We had a glass of fruit punch that was so good.
There seem to be two queen beds in each room, lovely hot water for showers. The staff is great and always had a smile for us. The hotel seems to be well managed and is a hotel we will stay at again.
