Hôtel du Moulin d'Or ** Lille

The hotel is very centrally located, which is ideal for exploring Lille. The room itself was very clean and well presented. Our room was at the back of the property and therefore we did not experience the road noise some other guests mentioned - we heard literally no outside noise in the room. However, inside noise was a big problem. We stayed for three nights and neither me or my partner slept very well as the noise of the plumbing/ creaky floors and stairs was very loud in our room. When someone flushed the toilet upstairs it sounded like a bucket of water was being poured down the wall. The place does not seem to be at all sound proofed/ noise insulated as we could hear every footstep. The ‘ensuite’ was also slightly strange - a toilet in a cupboard at one side of the room and a sink and shower behind a curtain at the other side of the room - this was not entirely what we expected - but it was all very clean. If you’re looking for location and cleanliness at a good price this hotel provides perfectly - just not if you’re a light sleeper!

I had a reservation in this hotel for two months before I suddenly got told it was cancelled. Turns out, even though I was supposed to pay directly at the hotel, they still tried to charge my credit card in advance. Problem was, that credit card was stolen two weeks before and cancelled, and therefore wasn't valid. Instead of letting me fix the problem, the hotel just decided to cancel my reservation. When I called them, they completly refused to do anything about it, telling me that once the reservation is cancelled it cannot be restored. And to top it all, after the intended date - the hotel sent me an email, asking me to leave a review on Trip Advisor. So here I am!

Central location, clean rooms, and friendly staff. We were there for just one night, stopping over in Lille. Only drawback is that there is no lift - might be a problem for some travelling with heavy luggage. However, it's a great value for money hotel - would visit again on a similar trip.

Ideal central hotel. Clean and comfortable. Good value breakfast.secure garage parking nearby. Reception on first floor so would not suit some guests. Overall would thoroughly recommend this value for money hotel.

The Hotel is in a good position, 5 minutes walking distance from the center. The room was clean and tidy, maybe just a bit small. The bathroom was new and clean, the only problem is that there was no heating in the bathroom. The staff is cheerful and very welcoming. A++
