Reasonable hotel warm welcome great location
Booked this hotel fairly last minute for 3 nights. The hotel is on the 5th floor of an apartment/office building but has a lift so no need to trek up the stairs. The owner gave us a warm welcome, very friendly guy and easy check in. Room is basic but clean, has air conditioning, TV, shower, plenty of hot water, everything you need for a reasonable price. Location is great close to a metro station, very central not far from the centre of Lisbon. Staff overall are friendly and helpful. Breakfast 5 euro extra but you get plenty for a fiver - coffee, juice, criossant, toast. If you're looking for a clean basic hotel for a good price in Lisbon would highly recommend staying here. Also found the hotel quiet at night time so got a good nights sleep.
After a busy day at the beach, I had placed my headphones into the carrier bag we had used for snacks and placed them on the spare bed in the room. A couple of days later whilst we were packing I noticed my headphones were no where to be found. We realised that after our room had been cleared, the day after the beach, some of our snacks from the beach bag had been taken out and placed on the table - the bag, some other snacks and my headphones were missing. After asking reception if they knew anything about it a very distressed maid appeared in our room raising her voice at me in Portuguese which I couldn't understand, she then very aggressively directed me back to reception where her and the receptionist had a small shouting match. After then talking to the hotel owner, the maid admitted that she 'threw out my very expensive headphones as they were in a bag (which unopened snacks had been taken out of may I add) which meant they were rubbish' the owner then gave me a check to compensate (however he took me into his office to barter down the price of the headphones which made me feel very uncomfortable) apart from this fiasco, the rooms were clean and excellent. The breakfast was filling and the location was spot on.
Cheap for Lisbon, close to metro, breakfast is alright
The good: - Close to El Corte Ingles (department store), a supermarket and the metro (Parque) - There is someone at the reception desk 24/7 - The a/c works very well. You could turn the room into the North Pole if you'd want to - Our room had a fridge (not a minibar), perfect cooling your own drinks. The "ehh": - Breakfast is okay for the price. You get served individual bread baskets which include a pastel de nata, a croissant (brioche-like and quite dry), a white bun, and some cream crackers. The bad: - The toilet in our bathroom was not attached to the floor (its bolts were missing). The water tank was also barely hanging onto the wall. So when one of us went to use it, they fell off the toilet after the bowl tipped to one side. The toilet tank then came off the wall and there was water everywhere. This issue unfortunately took two days to "fix" while we were only there for three. With fixing we mean that the toilet tank was reattached to the wall and caulk applied around the bottom of the toilet bowl: the bolts are still missing as far as we know. During those two days, we had to use the toilet in the hallway, which was very inconvenient, especially during nightly bathroom visits.
"Convenient, friendly staff and cost-effective"
We stayed at this place for 5 nights. The hotel is very close to the central Lisbon a 2 min walk to Parque metro st and a 5 min walk from São Sebastião (this line goes directly to the airport and is very convenient). It is also a 3 min walk to El Corte Inglés shopping mall. If you plan to take the Hop-on-hop-off bus then its just 8 min walk to Marquês de Pombal, where the hop-on hop off bus start for both red line and blue line. A special mention: We unfortunately had left behind some money and ID, that the hotel not only informed us in due time but also co-ordinated to send it back to us by courier. A big thank you to Mr Jorge / Mr Karim and booking staff for all the co-ordination.
Buses and Metro easy access
Is an hotel of 2 flats in a bigger building. You have to look for it in the door bell list. The rooms were nice and cosy. The receptionist was updated in football stuff and pleased to share the information.
