Had a gig in Camden so booked this hotel after a positive experience at their Waterloo hotel. Location was great for what we wanted but disappointing the experience didn't match Waterloo. Greeted by surly check-in staff, our basement room smelt damp and was looking a little "tired". However, it did have everything we needed, good amount of tea/coffee, decent bed and a good, hot, shower. Reception is not manned after 11pm which gave us anxiety in case the door key didn't work (as we were due back after 11pm), luckily unfounded anxiety! Biggest complaint was we had no chance of a lie in due to the noise the cleaning crew made in the morning, LOUD conversation outside our door (crap sound insulation) woke us up. Then just as I was getting in the shower they were knocking on our door, as checkout is 11am this was not expected!! Could have done with a "Do not disturb" sign for the door. Not sure I'd use it again.

A surprisingly quality option in a great location that didn't break the budget

I booked this hotel mainly because the price was affordable and it was conveniently located close to my daughter in Primrose Hill. We stayed 9 nights so I was a I was a bit worried about what my wife would think of the hotel given some of the reviews. I have to say that we were very pleasantly surprised. Front desk and housekeeping staff were vey friendly. We slept extremely well because the beds were comfy with nice linens and it was quiet, dark and cool. We were there during some very hot weather so the air conditioning was appreciated. The fan ran at a low speed continuously rather than kicking in and clicking off intermittently. I really appreciated the white noise rather than the alternative which tends to disturb my sleep. The room size wasn't generous but it was big enough and very well organized with small desk area with tea pot, etc. The bathroom was a good size and the rain shower was amazing. Very nice towels refreshed daily. Our room was cleaned daily and the sheets changed a couple times through the stay. We received fresh cookies every day. Even the toilet paper was a higher quality than we had experienced in some hotels in London. We did have an upper floor which was nice so I can't comment on the basement rooms. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the Northern Line underground in a very safe neighborhood there are shops and pubs close by. Primrose Hill and the London Zoo are 15/20 minutes away by foot. We would definitely stay here again.

More of a hostel than hotel

Reviewed 10 july, 2022

We stayed for one night. First impressions - it looked more like a hostel than hotel , not very inviting at all . The young guy on reception told us we could pay cash or card and wanted a passport - we only came from Essex 😳 on giving him cash he said I don’t have change , so if you don’t keep change on site dont accept cash ! Our room was below ground level , it looked clean enough but sadly it smelt damp and the bedding was slightly damp . This really needs addressing. The room had a patio door to open onto a walk way . This was only covered by a net curtain so when this was open to get rid of the damp smell the neighbours could walk straight in , very unnerving . The room door didn’t lock so we wedged a chair against it . Not the hotels fault but our neighbour was smoking weed which came into our room very unpleasant. You get what you pay for I know , we wasn’t expecting 5 star but it wasn’t great . Definitely in my opinion a Hostel

Does the job!

Hotel is a miles walk to Camden town. It's a posh hostel. Not so much a hotel, no restaurant or lift, just rooms but that said. The room we had (Queen) was very spacious; had a Kitchenette, with a fridge, tea and coffee facilities, lovely bathroom. Great shower, clean linen, towels and toiletries provided. The reception is unmanned over night, so there is not 24 hour room service as described.. Only criticism is the fact there was no lift and also the air con didn't really work but given the heat (28 degrees) it was working hard. If you want a pleasant stay in a quiet area and a good night's sleep, perfect! Would definitely book again.
