Okay to rest your head
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we stayed for one night. This place is okay for one night as somewhere to rest your head but I do feel that this was oversold to us. It was sold as having pool and gym/spa facilities but it turns out this is from the YMCA rather than their own facilities. Plus you have to pay £5 every time you want to go in. The pool (not the hotel's fault) is literally a swim in a circle until you get tired system. Not for having fun and I rocked up in a bikini which made me feel very uncomfortable, £5 I'll never get back. The room was okay, bed was comfortable for me although my boyfriend didn't think so. The TV didn't work properly and kept losing signal but I wasn't going to complain about it as we weren't there for the TV. The room was clean so that is always a good sign. The bathroom was nice. Clean and presentable although a tile came off by the sink and nearly crushed my foot. That was concerning. The restaurant at the hotel was really nice. Good food and the drinks were lovely. The bar there was also good and the staff were super friendly (including staff at the restaurant). Breakfast was good. Lots of choose from although it was disappointing that there were no fried eggs but apart from there there was a lot to choose from. Overall, this place is a good place to rest but not for the money that we paid....
No compassion in a time of need
I booked an overnight stay 28th march and I am now in the at risk group and have been told I have to self isolate. I have contacted the hotel who arent prepared to offer a refund even though I have said I am happy to pay a cancellation charge I thought they would of been more understanding for something that has been taken out of my control
It is what it is
I was sharing a room with a friend and although it isn’t the most modern of hotels it is very central. The rooms are small and pokey but staff are friendly with the bonus of having a decent bar open to late on site. Don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed. Location , location, location
