1 night solo stay

Upon arrival my work colleagues room was not ready so he was given an upgrade to the "Queen suite". After our stay his words were "if that was the upgrade I'm scared to know what the standard rooms are like"
This hotel is obviously a very old building so some issues cannot be helped, such as windows that hardly open or creaky floorboards. However it is extremely dated and in need of some TLC.
The rooms themselves are boiling hot. They seem to be aware of this issue as there is a desk fan in the wardrobe, however if you didn't know it was there you'd have no idea a fan was provided.
A few issues with the room - broken wardrobe doors and most handles missing off the drawers. Mismatched shabby furniture, very tired looking.
My room was on the second floor opposite the lift, so there was a lot of noise and light coming from the hallway when people were coming and going. After the automatic light in the hall switched itself off there was a pretty irritating humming noise for around 20 minutes. The bathroom was also boiling, with heat seemingly coming from the mirror!? I imagine there were pipes behind the mirror causing the heat, however it was so hot I couldn't even stand in front of the sink to brush my teeth it was so uncomfortable. The shower did not work at all. It was a pretty standard shower that was easy to operate but it refused to work. I opted for a bath instead however there is no water pressure so after 45 minutes I had around 3 inches of water in the bottom of the tub.
The tea and coffee station was pretty standard however after making a very sorry looking cuppa I saw the UHT milk provided was out of date. Luckily there is a great range of teas provided so I had a milk-less Berry tea instead. (photo of dodgy cuppa provided)
The bed was comfortable enough though a little on the hard side. As well as the noise that comes from the hallway there are noises from the floor above (mostly unavoidable noisy floors) all of this combined doesn't result in the best nights sleep.
Looks great in photos but wouldn't recommend at all. I'm really thankful I only stayed here one night
Good location but not a four star experience

The staff were friendly and quick to help. But the place was itself was disappointing. The whole hotel was on the hot side, our bathroom in particular. The room was small but otherwise comfortable for a couple of nights stay. Our kettle was broken and nearly burned my partner. The complimentary bottles in the bathroom didn’t appear to be sealed. There was nothing by way of facilities which is surprising for a four star. Would have given this a 2.5 out of 5 but that wasn’t an option on this site.
A horrible experience

Booked a 12-night stay over Christmas.
Room was small and noisy, but, well, it's an old building in London. Staff attitude ranged from indifferent to rude, but, hey, we didnt need to interact with them all that often. For some reason known only to them, the room keycards would fail every second night and need to be reset at reception. Er.. ok.
Then comes the clincher. On day 9, we discover that an old stuffed toy we left on the bed goes missing from the room. We try to get help from the staff. Seems most of them barely speak English. They eventually produce their smarmy hotel manager, who half-heartedly assures us of an investigation ("ah, if it were something of value we could perhaps inform the police...") but pretty much insinuates it's a mistake on our part. (Read: we managed to lose a 15-cm tall stuffed toy in the room or elsewhere and chose to blame it on his staff.) We tell him naturally we do not feel secure in the hotel anymore, are checking out, and under the circumstances would like a refund of our remaining nights' charges. He tells us the hotel "will only charge for nights utilised, but we will need to apply to Agoda (through which we booked this fantastic experience) for a refund". Upon returning home and after a fairly useless and frustrating exchange with the unhelpful folks at Agoda, we are shown an email from the hotel to Agoda stating that the hotel management had no intention of issuing a refund and that they had clearly informed the guests as much.
By all accounts this hotel sounds like it was a good place to stay in once upon a time. But things seem to have changed. We've come away feeling robbed. Twice over. Buyer beware.

Internet doesn't work, no heating, no menu for room service, shabby, but was once nice, bed does not smell clean. Staff resigned at the above but mean well. Wouldn't dream of eating here or, inexplicably breakfasting next door. The net not working is the worst- what are they thinking of in central London when you're here for work???? Go somewhere else.
Nice location but extremely noisy...

We stayed many times at the white hall grange hotel which just next door and it just was perfect but not in the Blooms grange hotel. There is a real problem of noise! You can hear everything that's happening in the room next to yours...tv...talks...and unfortunately much more when a lady is noisy and the couple is banging on the thin wall...yes we had it all! I could have overcome the fact that you have to go next door at the white hall to have breakfast but the noise...well no! There will be no next time for us in this hotel!
