Literally worst hotel I´ve been at
Reviewed 24 august, 2021
Quite harsh review but I just need to get this out there before someone else stays there. It was actually the worst hotel room I´ve ever been in. Not only do the rooms look horrible but the bed I slept in there was literally the worst bed I've slept in my life. The mattress had these iron things sticking out in my back. I turn it around but there was still this crap sticking out of the mattress. I have 1 friend in London and I asked the reception if it was okay to bring him up but they wanted 20 something pounds for me to have a guest up. The hotel is supposed to be a 24 hour reception or something but I came from the store and had to wait by the doorsteps for 10 minutes because the staff had gone somewhere. The breakfast was horrible aswell I got an expired Croissant and an orange juice. A former back injury came back after sleeping on that mattress. I've never done a bad review but this hotel certainly deserves one. DO NOT STAY THERE YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Stole my money - refused to honour mistaken booking
Reviewed 20 august, 2020
I booked a night in this hotel, then booked a second in error. I immediately emailed the hotel and phoned them after making this error and they refused to refund my money for the second night. As for the first night - shoddy furnishings that need updating, dirty old stained wallpaper and the shower was a dribble and the smallest bathroom I have ever seen.
The Pavilion ‘Chapter & Verse’

What the hell? We booked in here the other day for a three night stay thinking ‘my, that looks quirky and fun’. We left the very next day after spending an uncomfortable night in what a times felt like a cold noisy coal cellar. One Army issue blanket, one metal framed noisy camp bed with rock hard mattress, and one set of pillows that made us both wince the next morning when we realised what we’d rested our heads on. Filthy and stained with god knows what. Bulbs blown, cold, noisy, dusty and with rather nonchalant staff who seemed like they were there covering for a mate. We stayed in the room ‘Chapter & Verse’ which was rather gothic in style. At least the oppressive darkness meant you couldn’t see the grime so easily. Breakfast was fun. Two cartons of OJ. Two Milkshake cartons. And a waffle each left outside the door in a plastic tub. I’ve got a feeling the staff and owners couldn’t give two hoots what you think so long as this awful hole continues to be advertised on hotel sites. That’s enough now as I’ve got to go and put some ointment on some insect bites I’ve mysteriously picked up somewhere.

We had a very wierd reception some guy apperently helping out for tge day telling us 50 cent and craig david had stayed and showed us the managers office. The room was in the basement didn't like that. The tv didn't work the light fittings had 10 bulbs in each but only 1 worked in each. The bed wasn't comfortable at all bedding wasn't keeping me warm there was a blanket that was like throwing a brick I'm yourself wasnt comfy and the room was frezzing from 11pm as no heating on and it was such a cold night. Breakfast was poor basically deals from the local shop which isn't good. Onsite parking is £20 for 24 hours but your only there for 20 hours if you stay for one night. The decor was amazing I thought and great location loved check out being at 12pm but I was expecting so much more and all we really got was hostel vibes.
Charged twice for a room... unreasonable hotel
Reviewed 16 february, 2020
I was charged twice for my hotel stay on the Tuesday when I accidentally booked the Monday also and phoned to confirm the cancellation which they denied so I lost £50. Anyway I don’t recommend - the place is in a bad state with dirty peeling wallpaper and minimal shower facilities and a limestoney dirty shower head
