Stunning views, on a beautiful island. Room was comfortable and a decent size with sea views from the balcony. Infinity pool and area was lovely but no umbrella’s meant the beach was our preferred location for the day. The beach was also very busy due to being there in July and a lot of day trip boats arriving at the pier. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Food in the buffet was ok but the village harbour was only 10 mins away with a large variety of restaurants to pick from. The cost of beer was very high throughout Dubrovnik so cant moan the hotel prices were similar.
Beautiful location... Badly let down by quality of service
We spent three nights at this hotel at the end of our Croatia/Montenegro trip. The island is lovely and definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately, Lafodia probably has a monopoly on visitors, as it seems to be the only large hotel on the island. The resort looks as lovely as it does in the photos, but sadly the reality of staying here did not merit it being a 4* resort. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening (but would highly recommend the other restaurants along the waterfront). Breakfast wasnt great. Fruit juices tasted horrible, sausages were hot dogs, not a fantastic selection. I think you can pay to upgrade to an a la carte breakfast in a different restaurant, but we just chose to skip our breakfasts after the first day and have lunch out instead. The spa, for which we had paid extra, was very bad. Outdoor hot tub and indoor whirlpool were both cold water. The relaxation room was cold and had a water damaged ceiling. One sauna wasn't that hot and the steam room was also cooler than expected and smelled very strongly of damp. The staff on reception were helpful, but the evening outdoor bar staff werent great - didn't come round to take additional drinks orders and couldn't get the bills right at all. The entertainment was very noisy and spoiled the atmosphere across the waterfront as you could hear it in nearby restaurants. Our room was very nice, as were the grounds in general, and our only issue in the room was that our towels were sometimes taken away and not replaced. It's a shame to have to write such a poor review when the hotel has so much potential. Hopefully management can improve the service and breakfast/spa offering, to match the high prices charged to stay here.
Lovely hotel on a beautiful island
We stayed in the Lafodia Hotel for a week at end of September. The hotel is on a beautiful island just off the mainland. We had a superior room which gave a full frontal sea view which was amazing to wake up to every morning. Would highly recommend these rooms. Thank you to the hotel for the upgrade to a la carte breakfast in the Dalmar restaurant. Luca and Nikas always greeted us with a smile and the food was great. We were also upgraded to reserved beds on the beach and a day pass to the spa. Beach is stoney but don’t let that put you off. It is beautiful, the water is crystal clear be it a little chilly. Refreshing after chilling out in the sun. We ate in the Scarlet restaurant which is a buffet a couple of nights. The food was ok, the desserts where exceptional. Tihomir, guest relations in the Scarlet is great, always smiling and wanting to help people. Satisfied my sweet tooth. Italian was also really nice, great pizzas and a nice choice of starters and desserts as well. The bakery is to die for, just down the road from the hotel. They do ice cream, rolls and cakes. We had quite a few lunches from there. Would highly recommend the private transfer with the hotel, so easy and stress free. We also booked a day trip to the old town with the hotel, not as cheap as the ferry but you do taken straight to the old town which was perfect for us. Overall this is a lovely hotel and I would definitely come back as we managed to really relax and switch off from the hectic life back home.
We stayed here for a week, early October. We found our room clean and cleaned every day. One thing we did not like was the bed sheet was straight on the mattress, no mattress protector. Not the most hygienic and also meant you got well tangled. For anyone who is a light sleeper you might also find the number of indicators from the wall panels annoying, especially the one right beside the bed. I propped a book over to dull. Weather was cooler at night so didn't have aircon on. Generally around the hotel we did find the prices steep so tended to wander down to the bars and cafes in the town. We enjoyed the restaurant both breakfast and dinner. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially the restaurant manager and we noticed things didn't run quite as smoothly on his day off. The beach is cracking, clean and relaxing. Flip flops required to cope with the pebbles. If you miss the sand there is a nice bay in the town and sunj beach is about 15 mins walk away on a tarmac track. Hotel does manage transactions by credit card rather than cash. Hotel trip to dubrovnik is very expensive and concierge made the journey sound more difficult than it is. We took the local ferry on Sunday, shuttle bus is 5 minutes to pile gate at Old Town and 8pm ferry back. That way we had nearly 11 hrs in Dubrovnik and not ~3 hrs on hotel trip. Price compares 120 kuna v 600 kuna. Special hotel on a special island part of a lovely country with friendly locals. If you want to stay somewhere to relax this is ideal. Highly recommended 👍
Very nice hotel, very average food and service.
This is a very well appointed hotel. The rooms are quite basic but they are comfortable and bright. It is cleverly designed to give all rooms a side sea view. Those on the outside of the East tower have the best view but those facing West get the late sun and have a grandstand view of the beautiful sunsets! OK, now the bad bits. This hotel is hopelessly understaffed. Our room service got later and later until one day it wasn't done at all.It was no big deal but the poor housekeeper on our floor was working 12 hour days. The buffet restaurant was also very poorly staffed meaning that the food was either cold or you had to wait for more to come out. Again, great staff just not enough of them. For all this was only September there was a real end of season feel to everything. My recommendation would be to only book B&B and then eat out. It will be more expensive but far more enjoyable. In summary, a nice hotel in a stunning location but don't expect too much if you're a foodie.
