Scruffy

Reviewed 20 october, 2022

I can’t even put into words my shock at the staff at this dirty hotel. The first man on check-in was stoned! The second checking us out was asleep in the back office, eventually came out unhappy , and unfriendly almost like we’d disturbed him. Wouldn’t ring us a taxi to airport until I practically begged after trying Myself and getting no where. The rooms are scruffy, wore flip flops the whole time even in shower. The pool is dirty. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, such a let down to an exciting trip to LA

CHARGED US FOR A ROOM UNDER CONSTRUCTION WITH FULLY DEMOED BATHROOM. MANAGEMENT WON’T CALL ME OR REFUND ME.

Reviewed 20 october, 2022

CHARGED US FOR A ROOM UNDER CONSTRUCTION WITH FULLY DEMOED BATHROOM. MANAGEMENT WON’T CALL ME OR REFUND ME. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! Do NOT stay at this hotel. We were scammed into paying for a room not fit for occupancy and they will not issue me a refund. BLVD had the room under heavy construction yet the BLVD made the decision to 1) not tell us, 2) prepare the room for rental by making the beds and stocking towels, etc. (This shows obvious intent that they planned to rent what they knew was a construction site), 3) check us in and immediately charge our credit card for the full amount of the stay, 4) not offer a reasonable refund, and 5) dodge my MANY attempts to get in touch with a manager to resolve the situation. For those of you who like details, here’s the full story… I booked my room in May 2022, 5 months before my planned stay in October. During that 5 months, I received no communication from the hotel that there was any construction or anything else that we should be aware of that could impact our stay. When we arrived, the front desk checked us in and charged our credit card for the full amount of the stay. Still, nobody said anything about an issue with our room. We walked into our room to find that it was literally under construction. And I don’t mean that common areas of the building or a neighboring location were under construction…OUR ROOM was under construction and the bathroom was fully demoed. See the attached pictures. We immediately returned to the lobby and asked for a manager but were told she’s not on site or available by phone. We asked for another room, but of course none were available either at the BLVD or anywhere else in town. It was a sold-out night at the Hollywood Bowl and everything was of course full. So thanks to the BLVD giving us zero notice of this situation we were left with the awful choice to either miss our show at the Hollywood Bowl that we’d been looking forward to for 5 months, sleep in our car, or stay in a construction site. The really sad thing is they did this deliberately. This wasn’t a last-minute maintenance emergency that happened or an act of God outside of their control. They KNEW they had the room under construction yet the BLVD made the decision to 1) not tell us, 2) prepare the room for rental by making the beds and stocking towels, etc. (This shows obvious intent that they planned to rent what they knew was a construction site), 3) check us in and immediately charge our credit card for the full amount of the stay, 4) not offer a reasonable refund, and 5) dodge my MANY attempts to get in touch with a manager to resolve the situation. I’m out a lot of money and time wasted trying to resolve this with them. My only recourse now is to warn you all. I know they are still doing this to other people also because one of the times I called to ask for a manager, the front desk gentleman knew what room I had stayed in but had to ask me who I was and what dates we had stayed in the demoed room. So clearly they had multiple bookings during the timeframe the room has been under construction. Do NOT stay here!!

Don't expect any customer service and you won't be disappointed.

Checked in at 4:00 pm for a 2 night stay. When we got to the room it had just started to be cleaned. We were told by the housekeeper it was going to take a while and to go back to the office for a different room which was good because the cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling made us not want that room anyways. The office told us to wait till housekeeping was done but I said no, she said it was going to be a while and to get a different room. Then we were given another room and it was better except for the stain on the couch, the carpet being stained, and there was no TV remote. I asked the housekeeper about the remote and she gave me one from another room but it did not work the TV in our room so she told me to take it to the office. I took it to the office and was told someone would come to our room within 30 minutes but no one ever came. An hour later I took the remote back to the office and I was told it was reprogrammed for the TV in our room but it still did not work. The next day I called the office about the remote and was told someone would come to our room within 30 minutes but again no one came. I then gave up on the remote but the remote is not the point. The point is the service at this hotel is terrible. The hallway carpet was filthy with chip crumbs and other debris and the 2 nights we were were there it was never vacuumed but housekeeping walked by it throughout the day. We asked housekeeping for fresh towels and we were handed 1 towel. It was all laughable at this point. Great location for the Hollywood Bowl and secure parking but that's about it for this place. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. I'll be booking elsewhere next time.

Hotel refused to honor confirmed reservation

Reviewed 8 october, 2022

In August, we booked and paid for a room at the BLVD Hotel through Priceline, which Priceline confirmed for the night of Friday, October 7. We arrived at 3:30 pm on October 7 and provided our Priceline reservation with the confirmation number. The clerk said we had no reservation and the hotel was fully booked. We called Priceline and they confirmed that they had our reservation that was confirmed in their system. We waited nearly two hours for Priceline and the hotel to not resolve the issue. Nearly 45 minutes of that time was spent on the phone with Priceline while they tried to call the BLVD Hotel and the clerk ignored their call. Both the hotel and Priceline kept blaming each other for the issue, and neither gave us a solution. I would have been happy had they transferred us to a hotel within walking distance, since the whole reason we were staying at the BLVD was to be within walking distance of the Hollywood Bowl. I also found it hard to believe there were absolutely no rooms available for a reservation we had made in August. Priceline kept pushing us to cancel the reservation, and finally that seemed to be our only option. They said they could give us an extra $40 in compensation in addition to a refund of the room rate we had prepaid, although we then had no place to stay, which meant we had a two-hour drive back to our home after the late-night concert at the Hollywood Bowl, and we missed out on a planned weekend getaway to LA. The clerk at the BLVD Hotel did not take any kind of ownership or responsibility for resolving the issue, and when I suggested that at the very least he should tell his manager to investigate what went wrong so it didn’t happen again, he just shrugged. Honestly, whether this was Priceline’s fault or the BLVD Hotel’s fault, both parties should have been deeply concerned with the failure of their systems and processes, and the impact to their customers (especially since we had been regular customers of both). It was the lack of concern and carelessness that totally floored me. There are so many things that could have been offered as remedies, and it would have made me feel at least a little better if the clerk had been at all alarmed or insisted that he would follow up with the owner to get to the bottom of the issue to prevent it in the future. But none of that happened. It was absolutely terrible customer service from both Priceline and the BLVD Hotel, neither of which we will ever trust or use again.

Sleep in your car if you have to

Reviewed 6 october, 2022

I’d like to start by saying this is my first ever negative review of any place… Hotel, restaurant or other. I have never been treated with such disregard and complete lack of respect anywhere in the world. I honestly recommend staying anywhere besides this hotel. Your car, the street, next to a dumpster it doesn’t matter.. it would have to be a better experience than trying to check in to my reservation at this hotel. The rudeness we encountered after being told three different times to come back later to check in to our room left both my wife and I speechless. The place was incredibly dirty, the staff was rude .. I don’t think I should have to say anything more than that. We did not even check in, we canceled our reservation and went and stayed at a beautiful location just down the street that was exceptional.
