Modern spot in the heart of it all

I stay at this hotel often for work. The rooms are great and the views note worthy! The staff is friendly and accommodating, especially Ruben the bellmen! He goes out of his way to help us upon check in. Even if no help is needed, he will at least check on us or just stop and say hi. Ruben is a friendly face that I look forward to see upon check in. the pool area is chic and worth planning a little time at. The gym has a view and everything you could want. If your visiting downtown LA I would recommend staying here.
Amazing hotel highly recommended

I loved the interior design and as a real estate broker that manages 65+ vacation rentals I can be extremely picky staying in others properties. This hotel was amazing. The staff was so helpful and kind, the room was very clean (you even get Jonathan adler bathroom products). The restaurant in the lobby is beyond delicious and convenient as we had breakfast and dinner there every day for 5 days. We loved the location, and would never stay anywhere else. Not one thing wrong
Great staff, beautiful views, but a bit lacking

First off the front desk staff was great, they upgraded us to a "suite" (really just an extra large room, but it was a corner with impressive views of the city), based on our American Express Hotel Collection reservation and perhaps also our Platinum IHG status. However, overall I'd rate it only 3 stars, and it comes down to the details.
Our suite was, indeed, spacious. But it was also sparse. One small couch in the corner, a large expanse of empty space, and then the other furniture. Very small TV. Just in general the room felt empty, not thoughtfully laid out. Only two paper cups provided, not even a real coffee mug or two. There were a minimum of towels provided, which is a contrast with, say, even a Hyatt Place. We had to call the front desk to ask for more (paper) cups and towels after we went to the pool. The windows had fingerprint marks over them; I had to clean the windows myself, to better enjoy the very nice view. The AC (minisplit) also clearly hadn't been cleaned in some time; I got up on a chair to clean it, to wipe off some dust residue.
There was nothing awful about these details; overall perhaps most people would not notice or care about these sorts of things, but for a 4-star hotel it felt a little disappointing.
Overall I'd say the hotel lacked a well-thought-out interior design sense and a bit of a lack of attention to detail. It felt like management was trying to save a little money on the edges, but at the expense of giving that polished sense you get from the top hotels. As I said, even Hyatt's entry-level Hyatt Place hotels tend to have a better feel, not to mention a Park Hyatt. I understand this isn't IHG's premier brand (Intercontinental) but it feels like they could up their game a bit on this brand.
Sex Party and weird guests

All the accommodations were clean and nice, staff super friendly, but me and my partner have noticed a strange influx of guests- especially at night - few google searches after we have found out that a sex party was taking place at the hotel
simultaneously to our stay! It completely ruing the vibe of our stay.
Love the hotel atmosphere. Nice staff except for the woman security who was not helpful n rude. Otherwise, will be back!

I loved the hotel atmosphere. The air conditioner unit. It’s loud and old! The staff is very nice when I called about it. I did have one unpleasant experience while at the hotel bar Sunday night. The security woman was not the friendliest person.
