Returned recently from my annual visit to Lourdes and stayed at my favourate hotel, the Agena. I have stayed at other hotels in Lourdes but am always drawn back to the Agena. I changed my room this year and was very pleasantly surprised to be given a room which matched my request to overlook the Gave River. The room was spotless and was lit up each morning by the sun as it climbed over the surrounding hills. I was close to the lift for getting to the ground floor. It was cleaned daily and fresh towels, soap etc was on hand each morning. The food as alway's was excellent and caters well for all nationalities. Those with special diets are also well catered for. Fionnuala & Marc visit the restaurant daily and make sure everyone is happy and no problem is too large that they can't solve !!!! The Hotel is roughly 5 minutes walk from the Sanctuary. The gift shop within the Hotel is well stocked with everything a pilgrim might need and service is excellent with a bonus of 10% off prices for hotel resident's.I will be returning again next year and just wouldn't stay at any other hotel.!!!!
Our 16th Stay in The Agena
Home from Home! We have just returned home after our recent stay with Fionnuala,Mark and staff at the Agena. It’s our 16th stay at the Agena and we have no intention of staying anywhere else in Lourdes....Why would we....when it’s like home from home. This year we had a group of 47 Pilgrims and they thoroughly enjoyed their pilgrimage and their stay at the Agena. We are always made feel so welcome by management and staff (same staff year after year) a very good sign of any premises. We unfortunately had an incident this year where one of our pilgrims fell and damaged her hip and ended up in Lourdes hospital and subsequently Tarbes hospital for surgery. The support we got from Fionnuala was truly amazing...taking time out of her busy schedule to collect us from the hospital and acting as interpreter between the consultants and family. After long days at the hospital our meals were always there for us even at 9pm and staff kept on to make sure we had everything we needed. Looking forward to staying in the Agena in 2020
Very Happy and Enjoyable Stay
A homely and friendly hotel, my wife and I have stayed in a number of hotels over the years and we know what we like and what we expect, I would just like to say we really enjoyed our stay in the Agena, I found if something was not right and you went to the staff they would sort it, when we arrived it was almost midnight because the plane was delayed but there was food set out for us when we arrived. the next morning we met Fionnuala the owner, I told her I was a vegetarian and she said she would after me, she was around for every meal I had to see if it was alright for me, my wife who is a fusee eater went up for a second helping on one occasion I have to say we both enjoyed every meal we were served. when we were leaving we had to check out at 10:00 we were allowed store our cases and we were given lunch at 13:00 and dinner at 18:30 not many hotels would do that. It is hard to please everyone. I would certainly return to this hotel.
A Hundred Thousand Welcomes
We have just returned from our 6th visit to Lourdes and the Agena hotel, where we received our usual wonderful welcome from Fionnuala, Marc and staff. This is an excellent 3-star hotel, ideally situated close to the Grotto and we return year after year for the location, value for money and the extraordinary hospitality we receive. On more than one occasion, we witnessed the staff going above and beyond the call of duty. Nothing is ever a problem here for staff and proprietors, catering to the needs of their clientele and we have been delighted to receive the same requested room every year. The facilities here are typical of any other hotel of this type - however, what isn't typical is the hundred thousand welcomes you receive, the sing-songs at night and the home-from-home atmosphere created by Fionnuala. We look forward to many more enjoyable visits in the future, DV. Patricia & Frank Coleman
Thank you Fionnuala and staff
Thank you all so much for looking after all of us on our recent annual trip to Lourdes. Rooms were clean and comfortable as always with attentive and friendly staff, who even arranged for a taxi to pick us up and drop us off from the airport 😀
