Nice but housekeeping could do better

Reviewed 13 july, 2022

The room was spacious and clean. However, the hallway outside of my room was littered with small bits of garbage - up and down the entire hallway. The shower gel container was empty in my shower, so housekeeping had not checked it in some time. Unlike some previous posters, I did not see any homeless people. The area where they used to camp has been fenced off, so they are gone.

Perfect for a campus visit!

Parking is easy, check in was quick and friendly, the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the shower was hot and had good pressure... We were in an even numbered room on the 4th floor and we could hear highway noise. It wasn't super loud, but it might bother a light sleeper. Ask for an odd numbered room if that will be an issue for you. It took about 9 minutes to get to the Visitor Center on campus. Easy peasy. Breakfast had oatmeal, eggs, sausage, pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit, biscuits and gravy, and the hot food was hot and the cold food was cold.

I extremely suggest this location! It was very cleaned and the staff were pleasant. The outside grounds was well kept and maintained. Oh how can I forget about Josh at the front desk. Customer Service isn't dead. Josh shown us professionalism and made us feel welcomed. Two thumbs up for Josh! So I plugged this location for my next visit. Holiday Inn Express (((ROCKS!)))

Unsafe location

Reviewed 24 june, 2021

We stayed only one of two prepaid nights due to security concerns. Arrived in the evening and decided to relax on the back patio area. We and other guest were aggressively panhandled by a vagrant who had climbed over the gate. I notified the front desk who didn't seem surprised or all that concerned. The next day we observed the area. Next door to the west is a Goodwill and a strip club. To the east there is a homeless encampment under a bridge and panhandlers on many street corners. We chose to leave before dark even though the room was prepaid. We were also later billed an unexpected $15.16 on our credit card hold. I contacted the hotel about this and was told it was for parking and security. This was not disclosed at the time of the prepaid booking or upon check in. Ridiculous to charge this at a mid price hotel with plenty of parking and NO VISABLE SECURITY. Stay away. There are many safer choices around Lubbock.

WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!

Reviewed 17 june, 2021

This hotel is shockingly bad and very dangerous! On the day I checked out, a man was lurking around outside my room and was clearly on something or mentally insane. Scared the hell out of my daughter and me. Same psycho was later outside the hotel talking to a brick wall, yet Mgmt did nothing. Since the elevator buttons on my floor were out of order and I am on crutches, my daughter (21) had to run down the emergency exit stairs to the lobby to bring the elevator up for me and my luggage while this nut was loose in the hotel. Aubrey at reception practically accused me of lying about the elevator buttons being broken because she hadn’t been informed and guests had been coming and going all morning. She argued that the sign taped up on the doors on the 2nd floor lift could not possibly be there after I simply requested that the front desk telephone number be added to the sign so that guests like me could call for assistance. She said she only works one day every three weeks and can’t be expected to know everything going on in the hotel. I tried to speak with Amy the GM about these issues, but never got the courtesy of a call back after leaving 3 messages. I thought I’d seen it all until the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Lubbock, Texas. This place is not safe, not clean, has a GM who could not care less, and staff members who need to be better trained to work in the hospitality business. Better yet, shut down this hotel!
