Stay here is you don't want breakfast
Opinión escrita el 19 de Marzo de 2021
TEXAS...a state that is pretty much wide open and yet....this hotel has decided that customers are not important. As a Spire member, I am usually offered an upgrade or at the very least given my room preferences...nope not here. I wasn't even thanked for being a member. Room we were given was not on the top floor but was updated and nice. However, when I went for breakfast...coffee and packaged granola bars and pop tarts...wow..really going out of their way😳. After traveling to 48 states during the pandemic year of 2020...this was by far the worst offerings and the pandemics winding down! Step up your game...pretty tired of spending $$$$$ and getting inferior amenities. Now off to spend another $20 on breakfast...ugh

Room was clean except for trash on the floor between mini fridge & sink that was still there when I checked out. Holiday Inn has lowered its standards. The price should be lowered as well. There is no full or continental breakfast offered anymore. just some muffins & other sweet stuff & coffee. No fruit. No cereal. Coffee is unavailable in the afternoon.
I probably will stay elsewhere when back this way.

This hotel claims to be following CDC guidelines and pretends to care about stopping the spread of COVID19, i.e., there is no breakfast or coffee and a hand sanitizer station at the front entry. However, my stays here have made me increasingly more uncomfortable. This week, there is a group staying here with kids that has had parties in the lobby with no masks and no social distancing. The front desk just lets it go on. If you walk into the hotel to get to your room, you have no choice but to pass these gatherings. I have also witnessed a number of guests walking freely without masks on, and they are not told to put one on (Lufkin has a city ordinance requiring masks). Common areas are not sanitized and cleaned regularly; there is piled high trash/pizza boxes in the lobby garbage this morning. In my opinion, if you're not going to provide breakfast and coffee because you claim to care about the spread of COVID19, then follow through with the more serious offenses. I also cleaned my room prior to bringing my luggage in (Clorox wipes and disinfectant spray), and the wipes were dirty. Three stars because the room is updated and large and the internet is pretty good.

I had heard this place was under renovation but this is a bit ridiculous. Constant noise of compressors and texture spray until 8pm. Extra wall in breakfast area for no reason. The renovated rooms are ok in that they have nice fixtures, just the quality of work is so poor I cringe when I look at it. Paint splatters on the floor, paint on the wall so thin and irregular it looks terrible, doors with see through cracks between the jamb, uneven role, etc. But lots left alone, rusty fridge, rough doors, almond switch plates. Nope, lots of other choices in town.
Under renovation, don't stay

my wife had to go sit in hospital with her sister who had a broken back. I booked her into Holiday Inn Express for a 5 day stay, There was construction going on and they placed her in an old room right under workmen tearing everything out! She was woken up every morning at 6 by hammers, compressors, etc. After sitting up late at hospital this is not what she needed. I wish I had booked anywhere else! The employees were nice but breakfast was terrible. When she asked front desk about why they were starting so early she was told they didn't start until 8, when she asked on eof the construction guys they said the owner had told them they needed to get done faster and to spend more hours on it. WE come to Lufkin a few times a year and will either go back to Hampton or Best Western that we have stayed at before!
