Beautiful location..Food & welcome terrible!

Reviewed 16 october, 2018

Very peaceful, remote location. The owner greeted us unenthusiastically upon our arrival & we felt as though we were an inconvenience. Our room was clean and as we expected, the only negative I would say was the lack of daylight..just 2 small windows, we had to have the lights on during the day but not really a big problem. We ate at the restaurant the first night and the food was dreadful. The bread was stale, the potatoes under cooked and very, very bland. Breakfast the following morning & ongoingly was of a low standard, grey/green scrambled egg & bacon..lukewarm, semi stale croissants etc. The hotel is very remote which we knew beforehand & would have been great had the catering been up to scratch. So bad was the food that we stayed for 2 nights in a different hotel 40 minutes drive away, this bumped the cost of our holiday up somewhat! Nino (not the owner) who seems to be in charge of the restaurant was very friendly. Most of the time during our week stay we were the only residents in the hotel & I can only assume that this is why the catering was so poor though this is obviously not an excuse. We felt is such a shame as it is such a beautiful location but ultimately our holiday was ruined by lack of care & attention by the owner.

Great relaxing time with lake and nature view.

Excellent Country hotel for people looking for relax, silence and nature. Distance from a village, at least 10 km. You are in the very heart of nature, with swimming pool and a very good breakfast. Staff is very efficient, Elio does a great job for welcoming people and let them feel at ease, he is always helpful and very kind. Everything is cleaned and well arranged, the only thing to do is weeding the fitness stations’ path, it also has a very nice view! Very good relation quality/price. We also had a dinner, medium level and quite high price.

If this is the first stop of your summer break and you need a complete get away to recharge... then this is spot on! Friendly staff, beautiful setting, simple but adequate facilities. Great fishing in the lake, could provide some row boats to explore !! Negatives, Food very average and the pool is raised. Still being developed and have very very simple self catering facilities. But all in all a great base and very comfortable stay.

A peaceful retreat.

A lovely peaceful location on the hill by the lake miles from the chaos of everyday life. A comfortable bungalow. Very simple kitchen but enough for a couple of nights. No supermarket for miles so make sure you stock up with provisions before you arrive. A good breakfast was included with the room and if you don’t want to cook they do lunch and dinner at the restaurant and have a bar. Our children love fishing so the lake was great. A short walk down to the water and we saw fish jumping. To their delight they caught Rudd and perch off a small lure. No rods provided so you need to bring your own. If they had a couple of kayaks or a rowing boat it would have been even better. There’s catfish and trout too if you can catch them. Nice pool area overlooking the lake and valley. It was so quiet and peaceful, a true get away from it all.

Don't be fooled by the 4-star rating.

This place is only for those who are looking for a retreat and just want to spend their time off in a quiet place in the middle of nowhere. Granted, the views, the scenery and the sounds are stunning. But the goodness ends there. Dining options are very very average, you get more room provisions in a 2-star hotel and the swimming pool is always full of insects. You should treat this place like self-service flats. Make sure you arrive fully stocked with EVERYTHING because the nearest shops are about 20km away. Oh, one major piece of advice, because you will most likely be driving, do not take the shortcut route that Google Maps/Sat Nav suggests, it is a road to hell and your rental car will be wrecked. Take the next option which will get you places in equal time and is much safer and cleaner. Final advice... if you are under-50 years of age... avoid this place.
