I made a reservation by phone on July 17, speaking with an employee of the hotel. He told me that the price he quoted was based on payment that day, to which I agreed, giving him my credit card information. I was making the reservation for myself and three couples with whom I would be traveling.
When we arrived at the hotel on Sept. 15, we were told that my credit card hadn't been accepted and that the rooms were no longer available. The staff members behind the desk all were hostile from the get-go. Other members of my party, standing watching what was happening, said while we were there the hotel employees behind the desk gave the same speech to two other potential customers which suggested to us that the hotel had overbooked and was simply handing out rooms to those first on the scene.
We ended up at a Best Western Plus hotel up the street (with lovely rooms) and there was no issue with my credit card being accepted. The jolt of being told that our reservation was non-existent put a really bad taste in our mouths. And the demeanor of the employees behind the desk added insult to injury.

We arrived after an 8+ hour drive with a confirmation#, but no reservation was to be found. The person claiming to be the “shift supervisor” was not helpful and not pleasant and told me I was disrespecting him by being upset and would not help me find a room elsewhere! If you dare book at the Hamilton, you better have a plan B. We found a room at the Ramada and because the person at the Hamilton was so rude, they gave me an upgraded room just to be nice. Very poor business attitude at the Hamilton.
Nice view, but still a bit disappointed

We booked two night mid week, checking out on Friday morning. This Inn was booked online through the Mackinaw City's web site. We booked a room of 2 queens, top (3rd) floor is possible, lake view with balcony. This Inn said it had a restaurant, bar and served breakfast. We were told when checking in, the restaurant was closed and only a grab & go breakfast was available. Big disappointment!! So needless to say we had to have dinner out that Wednesday night (another review on where we went coming up). We also had to go out across the street for breakfast the next morning. That review is coming up also. The grab and go breakfast we got for Friday morning consisted of a bottle of water, a snack bar and an apple.........that's it folks and it was in a brown lunch bag. Now for the room: it must have been an upgrade as it had 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed room with a tv and closet, one very large bathroom with walk in shower and a jet tub; a nice king bedroom with balcony and TV and nice view of Lake Huron. There was on 2 of us, so they wasted a 2 bedroom on us, but the thought was nice even though it was on the 2nd floor. Was it worth $200.00 a night in September mid week??? NO. Won't do that again.

I paid $1,080 for a 2 night stay!!! It was a 4 bed, 2 bath which we stayed in last year for $600. Window latch was broken, door latch was broken. Noisy! You have to ask for your paper bag of water, apple and a granola bar in the morning. Reception was snotty and said the price is what is what to expect when you stay at a Hamilton Inn. They need to change their picture of the beachfront. It is not like that. Small area of sand, rocks all the way to the water. Not happy and will not stay there next year.
Very Pleasant Experience

The Hamilton Inn has very pleasant, helpful and respectful personnel. Each person we came in contact with always had a smile. Not enough is said about the housekeeping staff. The lady that had charge of our room was the best. Personality, respect and grace is the best way to describe here.
