A lovely property in a quiet setting
Opinión escrita el 2 de Octubre de 2016
Broke our journey through France with an overnight stop at this attractive property whose chaming owners Pascal & Beatrice made our stay so pleasant.
We had a lovely room with large ensuite shower and space to sit, we joined our hosts for supper having forgotten to warn them I am a non meat eater, with little fuss a huge dish of fresh vegetables appeared, an ommelette and followed by a dessert all washed down with nice local wine. Well worth a visit.
A beautiful setting in the heart of the French countryside

We were travelling from Stuttgart to Le Touquet and we chose to stay at Le Grand Logis as a midway stopping point.
Set in the heart of the peaceful French countryside, it was very quiet and we saw little traffic.
We had booked a room with a view over the garden, which was stunningly beautiful.
Our hosts didn't speak very much English, but by the odd words and sentences in Franglais, coupled with sign language, we managed to get by.
We went out to Laon to eat in the evening, but joined the other guests for breakfast in the morning. Seated around one large dining table we were treated to a traditional French breakfast. I would recommend the Brioche - it was heavenly!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Friendly and helpful, a great place to stay

We stayed for 3 nights in May, we had a lovely room, breakfast was excellent. Madame went to a lot of trouble to provide us with soya milk.
Be aware that there are no other places to eat in the evening in Marchais, so book a meal if necessary.
We could not get any wifi connection during our stay - advantage or disadvantage, you decide!
We would stay again.
Quiet and peaceful place

The landlady gave us a quick welcome at her private place and a quick tour of the house we rented.
We felt she was busy, maybe by the additional services she provides (SPA, massage, guest rooms). We expected a bit more time to know each other or a welcome drink as the owners live next door.
We rented the big house for 8 people with a barbecue and a swimming pool (located at her private area) to share with the other customers, open 4 days from 10h to 19h (closed on Friday for maintenance). There is a long green garden but no games for children. The rooms are charming and well decorated.
As mentioned, there is no internet and almost no network (need to get outside to make a phone call).
The landlord is very kind, open and smily.
However, the place is very quiet without any shops, a good place if we want to relax.
Very expensive salad

We were under the impression that the owners of this property could speak English as any emails had been sent in English, however upon arrival we discovered that neither the lady of the house nor her husband could speak a word of it. My partner who speaks a little French tried to ask if their was anywhere to eat in the village and managed to understand that we would be dining with them that evening. After a few hours of us not being quite sure what was happening the table was set and we were treated to a salad and cold meat starter followed by a potato and carrot stew with lamb kebab finishing with a dessert, this was accompanied by one glass of wine each. We were given no choice as to what we wanted for our meal and as I don't eat meat it wasn't very substantial, however what really added insult to injury was that when we checked out the following day we had been charged 70€ for the meal. During our three week trip to France it turned out to be the most expensive meal we had and we ate in some nice restaurants and bistros where we had a choice of food and a bottle of wine to accompany it.
The place itself was nice enough and we had a nice room although I'm not a fan of toilets without doors and breakfast was the usual fare of croissants and jam.
My main gripe (as you may have gathered) was the price of a meal where we had no choice of food and which cost almost as much as the room itself.
