Style over substance with poor service for good measure! Avoid !

After staying in 2 other IHG hotels on the previous nights which were exceptional and had great customer service we arrived here expecting great things! On arrival we were met with the manager Mervin barely able to greet us, we were informed that the restaurant was fully booked and that the bar was only serving food until 7 as they were so busy with the restaurant! No cocktails were being made between 6pm and 10pm as they took to long to make! Not a great start the farce that ensued!
On arriving we went to our room which was pleasant enough not not 4* quality. We went for a swim and returned to the room, whilst in the room we noticed a lot of noise from the corridor and then loud music and voices from the opposite room and adjoining room, we checked outside the door to see how loud it was and it didn’t get louder as you opened the door, it appears that the walls and doors do not have any acoustic performance! We spoke with reception and they moved us to another corridor near an end (the only good thing they did for us) the acoustics were as bad in this room and we were woken several times in the night and morning by doors slamming and people talking, this may be a newly refitted hotel but the noise transfer levels are terrible. I went to the bar early evening while my other half was getting ready and it took 15 minutes to get 1 cider, I wouldn’t have minded but there was only a handful of tables in use by customers! Seriously lacking staff is an understatement. We dined off site in the evening and returned back at about 8.45pm. On check out the manager Mervin said that will be £126 to pay asked why and he said dinner in the restaurant and and 2 rounds of drinks in the bar! I explained we had eaten of site due to the lack of confidence in the hotel. He checked us out and we left, half an hour from the hotel we received a call from the hotel explaining that the meal was a glitch in the system but the bar bill had been signed for to our room at 8pm my wife explained again that we ate off site and we’re not in the hotel at that time! I can honestly say in 30 years of hotels and overnight stays I have never been treated with such suspicion and indirectly being called a liar, disgusting customer service and avoid this place like COVID
Lovely sunny summer stay

Myself and husband have just returned from a one night stay here. We had a lovely time, and feel the stay was just what we needed. We were warmly greeted by Olga ( glad Steve helped later with the pet caterpillar lol) and a huge thanks to Christina and Sukey for allocating a nice quiet club room which was spotlessly clean, plentiful complimentary teas, coffee,biscuits. Waters, in fridge. Robes, toiletries in bathroom, fluffy soft towels, and a comfy large sized bed. Only disappointment was no pillow spray which I always love using when visiting Crowne Plaza. After unpacking, we enjoyed a sunny walk along the riverbank, accessed at the far end of the hotel car park, then we returned to the hotel and enjoyed a relaxing few hours in the lounge little garden where Raj made sure we had drinks and snacks ( thanks Raj) We believe he had just started at the hotel. He did a fine job looking after us, then he swapped, and smashing Olga from reception took over, and also hosted the lounge well, making sure everyone had what they wanted. Big thanks Olga. We then enjoyed a delicious three course dinner in the light airy restaurant. We do like this restaurant as there’s two menus on offer, ( one featuring curry dishes, the other European) and they can happily be mixed and matched. We chose the tasty lamb curry as main and it was delicious, as was our starters and desserts. Service was good, and we had a smashing evening. After a very peaceful nights sleep ( great blackout curtains, a huge bonus for me personally, as I always wake at dawn normally due to the light) We were warmly greeted for breakfast in the restaurant by Marshall ( and Raj was once again about too. That lad gets around lol) Great selection of cold and cooked breakfast items ( even smoked salmon) and the cooked breakfast which we both sampled was great quality ( lovely sausages) and nice thick decent sliced white and brown bread. Always welcome as we sometimes stay in places that serve thin cheap type breads.
Marshall came to check all guests at breakfast were enjoying everything too.
After filling up to start our day, we sadly had to check out. Apologies to the gent on reception whose name we unfortunately didn’t ask, (sorry) who was another cheerful friendly face, who checked us out smoothly.
All in all we had a great stay. Lovely food and drinks, great clean room, and hotel, and a friendly helpful team. Thanks so much to everyone who made sure we had a great time.
Christina, we shall look forward to visiting once again in future.

We checked in a little early and the reception was not busy, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our two rooms on the first floor were large, and comfortable. We had dinner included and were all enjoyed the meal and had good service. Wine was slightly expensive at about £25 a bottle, but all other drinks seemed a reasonable price and we also went in the bar area after dinner. My sons tried out the pool and said it was nice except some of the lockers were broken, it was busy in the health club as it was poor weather. We all had a very enjoyable full english breakfast.
Terrible Spa day + afternoon tea, made me ill !! Marlow Crowne Plaza

Massages were cancelled before the day!! Arrived 1st June. No card keys so had to keep waiting to be let in to gym or pool. Afternoon tea - waited 1hr 25 mins for food !! Having to wait too long caused a medical problem due to low blood sugar. I started losing my speech, shaking and nearly collapsed. No one was around to help. It left me ill and for the next few days. We explained what happened at the spa before we went home and wrote emails asking kindly for a full refund especially as no massages were received. To date no staff or manager has replied!! So upsetting, distressing!! We will never come back !!
Don’t waste your money!!

Came here for a birthday celebration weekend hoping for a few nights of fine food and relaxation. We were however met with minimal set menu’s in the restaurant, all the facilities seem very outdated and not well looked after, and ridiculously overpriced drinks. Not to mention when we made it to the spa - they were fully booked for treatments for weeks even though we called ahead, the pool is full of children being thrown around and splashing with their parents, and there are around 10 sun-loungers with stains on. Everyone else is left fo stand around or sit on plastic chairs until one became available.
The only positives are that the room is a lovely and bed is comfy. Although it’s a shame as that’s where we spent the least time!
Don’t waste your money on this hotel.
