A Great Time!

This riad was absolutely amazing. The rooms themselves are very nice and the beds are super comfortable. The bathrooms are also really nice.
It's just far enough to be quiet but close enough that you can get to the Medina via a short walk. It has a nice terrace up top which is great to hang out in at anytime.
Mohamed himself was also a great host and set us up with everything we needed to explore Marrakech! He was very responsive and accommodating to our needs.
I would certainly recommend this riad to anyone who's interested in staying in the Medina and wants a clean, quaint and comfortable place.
souless & sad place

The Moroccan tradition is to receive guests with a good mint tea, but not in this riad. Mohamed, the employee in charge, makes a point of negotiating tours immediately, saying that otherwise you won’t have a place and the city is extremely dangerous. For negotiating, understand: tariffs up to 10 times higher than those practiced locally. When proposing dinner, heated in the microwave, he says that there is no restaurants in the neighbourhood and charges 15 euros for a sad and tasteless meal. For 13 euros, by the way, it’s possible to make a delicious and homemade menu in a great restaurant just 3 minutes away (Dar Tazi). Once in the freezing room, when there is water, it is charged. Television never works. Breakfast is made only with low-quality industrialized products and not homemade, as expected in a traditional riad. In addition, it is possible that it will not be served, as it happened on one of the days: at 8:15 am there was no one at the hotel! So, to sum up, don't expect help with maps, transportation or sincere recommendations - they won't come!

Our stay in Marrakech will always have a bitter aftertaste... We visited the city at the end of December 2019. We had booked a room of 3 (5 nights) with breakfast at Riad Proupre Medina. On arrival it turned out that our first night was double booked. The host already had a solution: he would take us to another place for one night, so that we could continue our stay with them afterwards. When checking our check-in data, however, we were not in their system at all. Even if we had the booking confirmation from Hostelworld and a deposit has been taken from our Mastercard, the host said they didn’t receive our booking ("it was very busy during these days"). The host contacted hiss boss and Hostelworld, but our booking turned out to be nonexistent. As it was getting late and we couldn’t stay at the riad, the host helped us by looking for another place to stay: a friend of the host still had an old apartment in the city center. This would cost us a lot more, after all it was last minute and most hostel and hotels were full booked... We also had to pay everything in cash. Knowing it was 7pm, we had no options left. Of an "upgrade" because they made a mistake, there was no question. We slept 5 nights on hard beds, under dusty sheets, shared 2 towels which was not very comfortable compared with what we expected when we were booking this riad. Which was also strange: in the riad it was extremely quiet and we didn't see any tourist all this time...
We contacted Hostelworld, but as it was during busy season they also only replied after 2 days. According to them, our booking was correctly confirmed and they were unaware of any issues. Apparently bookings are arranged directly by the riad. Hostelworld gave us back our deposit and would try to contact the riad Proupre Medina. However from there side they had troubles in contacting the riad as well. Until today we didn’t hear anything anymore from the riad nor from Hostelworld.
We think other tourists shouldn’t go through the same as us when they book a riad. As we like to travel and travel a lot we also like to keep our trusts in the locals. But after we get to know the Marrakchi, we still doubt that we haven't been ripped off money since day one.
Do not risk booking here!

We booked a 3 night stay over New Year but they cancelled via email just 1 day before - even though we had booked 6 weeks in advance, received confirmation of booking and paid a deposit. They would not reply to any further emails or give any explanation (or indeed apology?!!) and left us stuck with no accommodation over such a busy period in central Marrakesh. Do not risk it - book somewhere more reliable!
Nice place but poor management

My friend and I stayed at Riad Pourpre Medina (118 Derb Baba Ali). The Riad is cosy and the staff is very friendly. The manager of the Riad however is not accommodating. My friend is gluten-allergic, something we disclosed to the Riad prior to our stay (breakfast included at the Riad). There was no breakfast for her. We suggested fruits, but no. When at the Riad we complained several times about my friend not getting any breakfast, yet the manager failed to arrange it. We adressed the manager as we understood he was in charge of arranging the breakfast and as he was the only one who spoke english at the Riad (and my friend and I do not speak french or arabic). He did not care. A very bad experience in an otherwise nice and friendly Riad. The rest of the staff was terrific!
