Good but noisy
Reviewed 26 february, 2019
The is located in the downtown on a main street with 5 lanes in each direction. The noise from the road is unbearable and continue day and night. After 7pm is not pleasant to walk outside the hotel as all shops and restaurants close and streets are empty (except the cars of course). The room is okay but the bathroom needed maintenance as the toilet did not have cover or even plastic seat and the sink tap was broken. Beds were comfortable. Wifi and TV worked well. The staff was friendly and breakfast was good. The hotel does not have an elevator and were on the 4th floor
Change my mind.

I have traveled to Medellin for a few years. I first found this hotel thro booking.com for its location that was walking distance to where I needed to go. The lady during check-in the first day was super nice though I didn't speak Spanish. My friend who is local help me out as well. As I didn't go out in the night. The location was fine. But there's not after 6 pm, not even food. I became the regular guests and they asked me not to book thro web-site to help them. We all know what we pay and what we get. It was really for their price and hospitality. I even wrote them good rate for those reasons. Basic needs for a clean bed and a private bathroom. Many time the air-conditioning didn't work. Hot water was slow. I was not demanding and only stayed for a sleep. Place became a little busy and the rate went up. My friend did call them directly to book my room. Normally 3 days each trip. One time, I stayed for a week due to bad weather in US. Last week, we booked for 10 days over web-site. After we got to Medellin, we needed to change our travel plan. We have to leave to another city for a couple of days. Once we checked in the hotel, we informed the hotel that we had to go out of town a couple of days and back again. He asked me to cancel the online booking. I did but then we realized he increased our rates that's much high than we booked from the web-site. Totally unusual than what we book thro' web-site or we called before. Bottom line, he ripped us off. Besides, he started to have an attitude. My son and I were too tired and needed sleep before we could work the next day. The next day, we moved elsewhere and my son suggested not to book this hotel again. For our 10 days in Medellin, we found other places near Cr 70 just a few minutes bus or taxi. Close to restaurants that open late. That were so much better. The difference of rate was enough for our food too. That would be my last time staying in Hotel Plaza Mayor.
Convenient to downtown

Been here many times. Don't pick me wrong, the hospitality is great! Just find out not all rooms have air-conditioner. It's ok in winter but hard in hot weather if you are not from the south. Got the last room that on piso 2. With no air-conditioner and it's very noisy. No hot water as well that's not good with family. Overall, I still like to location that's good for my purpose of staying.
Great location, but no elevator

We loved this place. Great location. Great breakfast. Free Wifi, walk to everything. Lots of security all around. Lots of restaurants and close to all tourist sites. Overlooks the Luz Park. Very nice staff. It is about 30 minutes from the big airport, not the regional one.

The rooms are like they are publisized on line, clean, and modern. The location is fine, in the commercial center, not a great place to walk around at night, but any big city center has the same problem. Cheap for what you get, would return
