Strange staff
Fab location, pleasant uptop pool. The staff is hard to comprehend. Perhaps the Mexican manager should go back to Vail, Colorado, where he worked prior to this. He'd fit in. The lady, who works the front desk, is efficient. She has been there for decades.
Very good location
This hotel is located just off the main square. Rooms are generous, tidy and comfortable, (though rather crowded) built in colonial style around a courtyard. There are however awkward steps within the rooms. Aircon is effective and not too noisy. Breakfast was served in a covered area around the courtyard. There is a pleasant, small, pool on the rooftop with views over the cathedral
Great Location
The location of this hotel is great, on a little square one block from the main square in Merida. The hotel itself is old, colonial style, great charm, but the rooms are a bit fusty/damp smelling. The beds were comfy, the shower was good. Breakfast buffet had a good choice although for one of the waiters, if we asked for tea and not coffee it was a blank no, not helpful. The pool was a great addition after a long day in the heat. Reception was always helpful and friendly.
Love this place!! Location is exceptional!
The location of this hotel is right on a lovely square with gorgeous trees & lots of sitting places! Starbucks & fantastic restaurants abound!! We stay here regularly on trips through Merida. History is all around this lovely centre of Merida!
Charming hotel steps from the main square
My partner and I stayed here for two nights this week and we could not have been happier. This hotel has plenty of colonial charm and is in the shadow of the cathedral by the main square. We had a standard room on the top floor by the roof top pool. The room was a comfortable size, with a modern bathroom. The beds were comfortable and we slept soundly. We did overhear some other guests complaining that the beds were too small, however these people were quite fat (I’m 6’ tall and 210lbs and I had plenty of room to sleep well). The grounds were beautiful and full of interesting artifacts and paintings of how the city looked like during colonial days. The roof top pool was very refreshing in the hot afternoon, and the terrace offered great views over Mérida. The on site restaurant has a good breakfast with fast service. And speaking about good service, the staff was very helpful and even allowed us to checkout late, so we could enjoy the pool during the hot hours. (Regular checkout time is a very reasonable 1PM). The one downside is that some noise can be heard from the street below, however the noise at night wasn’t too bad and did not bother either of us (my partner is a light sleeper). On my next visit to Mérida, I will definitely check out Hotel Caribe again.
