Thank goodness it was just one night.....very basic accommodation

Reading other reviews I was not expecting 5*, guess you get what you pay for. I wouldn't have booked this accommodation myself, we were staying at this motel as part of a trip. Spiral staircase to the 1st floor steps too small, thankfully we only had an overnight bag and not a suitcase. It rained in the evening which made the steps slippery. The staff need to attend a customer service course, none of them could be bothered and were just totally disinterested. A set meal was arranged for our party, not suitable for vegetarians or non red meat eaters, there were 3 of us who fell into this category, 2 who were promised fish, and the vegetarian lady a suitable alternative, the vegetarian lady ended up with fish, I was given fish as promised but that was swiftly removed for the other lady who's Hubby got rather agitated over the whole thing so I was left with just boiled rice for the main course. At the end of this gourmet meal we were asked if we wanted coffee and it would cost €2 for the privilege, what arrive was horrible coffee in a thimble!
There is a positive, the room was clean, the bed was surprisingly comfortable, pillows flat, the bedding and towels clean and they were new, however there were no hand towels only bath towels.
Breakfast was a shambles, but after the previous night it was expected, it appears our tour company use this budget motel regularly so you would have hoped that the service would be far better than it was.
Unexistent customer service!!

We arrived late in the night and the reception was closed and the automated 24h kiosk was out of order, attached the photos!
When we booked and prepaid the room, we specified that we'd have arrived after midnight and we had 2 kids travelling with us.
When we arrived nobody was there and the kiosk out of order!! We contacted the number on the reservation and nobody answer the phone so we had to find another hotel in Metz at 1AM!
We wrote many time to the manage and Campanile customer service but we have never received any answer, which is totally unacceptable.
We went back the following day and the staff refused to refund as she was not the manager and she could not contact him, UNACCEPTABLE
I WILL NEVER GO IN THIS HOTEL/CHAIN AGAIN and I WOULD SUGGEST EVERYBODY TO BOOK ANOTHER HOTEL WHEN YOU TRAVEL AT METZ!

Spent one night here on way to Italy with coach holiday. Looks like an old Butlins camp. It is being painted at moment and smell was overpowering. First floor rooms are accessed via a spiral stairway, not easy to carry a case up. Room was small and had a metal shutter on outside which when closed felt like a prison cell. Bedding was ripped. Evening meal was of poor quality and breakfast was a shambles.
Good in every way !

Stayed there for one night on the way to Germany. From the outside not a typical looking Campanile. Public areas clean and tidy, with modern restaurant and bar area. Bedrooms again clean and of a good size. Excellent bathroom and a pleasure to find tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Had an evening meal which was good quality and good value. Staff excellent in all areas, professional, friendly and more than happy to help.
Good overnight stop.

I stayed at this hotel for one night as it was a convinient location on a trip down to Germany. Even though I took the wrong exit off the autoroute it was still easy to locate! This Campanile is of very similar nature to others I have stayed in. A motel style establishment close to main routes and providing a good, no nonsense service. I had booked the stay on-line and on arrival check-in was efficient and fast. The room was exactly as I expected with a good size, very comfortable bed and entirely acceptable.
One very good aspect of this location, and one reason I chose to stop here, is that it is extremely easy to travel into the centre of Metz using public transport. Located right next to the hotel is a stop on the excellent Mettis tram system and this will take you right into the city in about 15 minutes. As I had arrived at the hotel mid afternoon I took the opportunity to go into town to get a feel for the place and to have something to eat. I would certainly recommend trying out this great transport link.
After a good night's sleep in the great bed I had breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. This was the only slightly disappointing aspect of the stay. I didn't expect a “full English” but there only appeared to be a choice of croissants or bread rolls. The coffee was good though!
So to sum up I would certainly recommend this establishment as a halt on a road trip and would happily stay here again any time.
