Wonderful staff, beautiful property

We have stayed here many times over the years, and always love it, but Joseph made this trip especially special. As the first face we saw, Joseph was kind, attentive, funny, and made us feel oh-so welcome. This is the best pool in San Diego, and the vibe of the guests is akin to a backyard bbq. The neighborhood is chock full of great bars and restaurants. You can't beat this place. Thank you Joseph, and the Lafayette staff for such a lovely experience :)

We came to San Diego to visit friends that lived in North Park. We found this awesome hotel in the neighborhood in which they live. It showed to be close by so we felt it only appropriate and with some great reviews so we took the chance! The BEST chance we took! Loved Loved Loved this hotel! Would stay here everytime we come to San Diego hands down! We ended up spending the whole time at the hotel with our friends enjoying the pool, drinks and the ambience of it all. You felt like you were taken back in time a bit with the swim club atmosphere and staff attending to you to ensure a wonderful time. There was even a time we had to go to the front desk that was overwhelmingly busy, we were impressed by the supervisor- Joseph who handled each customer so pleasantly and with so much patience and with his booming personality he had everyone in line laughing and joking that he seemed to know exactly how to handle this crowd. He definitely was a face we enjoyed seeing during our stay here. We enjoyed our stay here so much, eateries close by, the quaint neighborhoods and being so central to everything made it so easy. Highly reccomend for anyone coming to San Diego who wants to get away from the Big chain hotels but still have a great experience….stay here! You won’t regret it!
Cheryl and her staff were awesome!!

We visited the Lafayette Hotel for its outdoor movie night last week because they were playing our favorite movie – Moulin Rouge! They went above and beyond to create an enjoyable experience and even had a game to play while watching the movie. It actually ended up thunder storming (who would’ve thought) and unfortunately they had to stop playing the movie due to safety reasons (which is a good thing.) The manager, Cheryl, and her staff were so friendly and so accommodating to my friend and I as we hung out in the restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Quaint hotel for family or friend getaways. Pool side is intimate and kid friendly. Its walking distance to many restaurants and bars. Rooms are dated but maintained. Maintenance is responsive to anything that needs to be fixed. Bar and restaurant on site are decent.
The best place to hang and stay in San Diego

I come to stay and swim at The Lafayette often. It’s an amazing historic property and the staff is truly the best.
Joseph at the front desk always greets us with a smile and helps us with anything we need. Vivian at the pool is the best and makes sure our drinks are never empty.
