The hotel is very dirty. My first room had significant mold, I asked the front desk for a different room. The woman at the front desk was helpful but my second and third rooms all had mold. I gave up after the third room request. The next morning I had a spider in the room.

I will not likely recommend people to stay in hotel. Bring your own disinfectant wipes and cleaning products. Start cleaning in the high-risk areas. Hotel is at a low level or place to stay overnight.
DON’T STAY HERE!!!

DO NOT STAY HERE. Pass right on by and go stay in West Monroe. The pool looks like a swamp. Rooms are not equipped with basics. Very much is disrepair: General manager advised and did not seem to be concerned. Is this what the Marriott brand is becoming?

We have often stayed at this location through the years. In 2016 my husband and I had a bad experience there but decided to give it one more try when we saw that it had been “renovated”. What a mistake! It has gone from bad to worse as far as cleanliness, foul odor, dark, dank just overall gross. A broken out window with plywood inserted was the first clue. Then the disgusting green, slimy pool that shows clean and blue on the website was the next one. It only goes down from there, Nasty toilets, ill-equipped kitchens, dirty, greasy kitchens. I could go on and on. So you say, why did we stay? We had rented 3 rooms for 10 family members and had traveled across the country to get to the area for friend and family gatherings. Where were we supposed to go? There were no other accommodations available. You only have to look as far as the management to see the problem. Detached, disengaged, makes excuses and accuses you of wrong-doing. There is no housekeeping, no pool, no food of any kind offered yet you are not warned of this when you book or when you check-in. We discovered the pool horror when we looked out the window. Four very disappointed little travelers made the discovery. I find it abhorrent that Marriott tolerates this. However, the manager will tell you quickly that he can get top dollar from travelers coming off Interstate 20 and from folks who have plenty of unemployment to pay whatever price is asked. Family travel? Forget it! NEVER bring a family to this location!

I've stayed at quite a few Marriott properties and generally like the Residence Inn experience. This was a different case. Situated behind a mostly closed Pecanland Mall and a railroad track, the hotel is just plain "run down" and smelled old. Halls were dark, warm and humid with dated and dirty carpet and wallpaper. The room I was assigned was likewise dated and had seen better days. I'd asked the "very busy" desk clerk if the room had a bathtub and was told yes. It did not. What it did have was a past prime shower with broken shower door and tepid (at best) water in the shower. Few toiletries were provided. The floors were sticky and I could hear the soles of my shoes squeak each time I lifted my foot. While the bed was neatly made, the mattress had also seen better days. I will say though the AC functioned very well. Attempts to talk with the desk clerk about things were met with "hold on" gesture as he was always answering phones and seemed very frazzled. I saw no other employees. The pool was just dismal, it looked more like a local swamp (green with algae and other debris). I was taken aback. The "hotel" seemed like it was mainly occupied by local, low rent, long-term residents. A shocking discovery for weary travelers used to Marriott's normal standards. I. may stay in Monroe again, but not at the Residence Inn.
