Terrible
I don’t often leave bad reviews but this place was terrible! There was actually a couple in our group who left and checked into another hotel because it was so bad. Our included dinner scheduled for 8:00 pm didn’t even start to be served until over an hour later. My room only had one partial roll of toilet tissue and trying to get another roll wasn’t easy!
Love this hotel
I was there in the month of May, stayed one night, very friendly staff even though I don't know Italian language, nice atmosphere located in a good locality , food is great, the guy in the coffee shop is very friendly, thank you man I don't know he remembers me, would love to come back
Typical Italian family-run hotel in great location- recommended!
This is a lovely, small, family-run hotel in a great central location in Montecatini. It’s just a short walk to all the shops bars and restaurants. Another great advantage is the provision of locked, free, overnight parking at the sister hotel- parking is at a premium in town. The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and really want to make your stay enjoyable. at reception and in the breakfast room. I am particular about cleanliness and I have to say that I found the hotel extremely clean throughout. Breakfast is a continental buffet, typical of the Italian region with bread, cheese/ham, fruit and preserves. It is served up to 9.30 during the week. The bar is in the reception / lobby area and it is pleasing to be able to get a coffee late at night or early in the morning from the friendly night porter. We have stayed here several times and really love the relaxed ambience and authentic Montecatinese welcome. Many thanks to Moreno, Daniela and all the staff.
Charming Hotel - Very kind and helpful staff
We had a lovely stay at this hotel, the rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Some of the other reviews that I read surprised me - just saying that we had a great experience and would definitely go back. There was a nice little bar in the lobby and a back room with a piano and several games set out for guests (chess, checkers). My favorite element of the hotel was definitely the staff - they gave us lots of great recommendations (the funicular, a nearby winery with multi-course meals for which they made our reservations, local spas, and fabulous restaurants, to name a few). They made sure we were squared away with the train schedules and bottles of water for any of our trips (they are stocked in the bar and charged them to our room, which was definitely less expensive than purchasing them at the train station). The staff at breakfast was incredibly kind and made us feel right at home our first morning - they seem to know when it's your first day and they make sure you know where everything is located and what is available. I found it a classic European "continental" breakfast (though keep in mind, I've only traveled there a few times, so maybe not an expert), there are nice breads, meats, cheese, fruit, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal and juice/coffee products. Finally, in classic Italian fashion, there is a delightful outdoor seating area (probably helped that it was absolutely gorgeous the week that we were there). Make sure you have a glass (or many) of wine and enjoy it! Overall, I think the hotel was an excellent value for the cost of the stay.
Average hotel, needs updating!
We were part of a tour package and San Marco Hotel was included in our package. The rooms were very dated, but clean, the daily breakfast was average. The room we stayed in had two twin beds and a head board that kept falling onto our beds if it wasn’t propped up properly. Room 310 is to be avoided. It had a nice balcony and the bathroom was clean BUT that’s about it. I would not stay here again and giving this hotel a 3 based on the service provided at the front desk and in the breakfast room.
