I was treatend by Mariana at the reception That try to make me pay a fake bill plus trying to make me pay 360 $ for a covi d test . And them treatend me that I was an American citizen at Uruguay . Room was dirty and she ask me if I can bring er to America ??? I am married and straight. Hotel area was dangerous . Rest of receptionist were nice and told me that she was very Messi. I ask for a manager and she said there was no one and that the owner was from Thailand . It make me feel scared intimidated and unsafe. She can’t not print my covi d negative nor my boarding passes but the others later could . I love the NH hotels around the world but this one was horrible and the taxi driver told me that it was the worse hotel when I just arrive there ???

Just okay, but not worth it.

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel together with our 2 kids. We expected it to be a business hotel with comfort and some luxury. At least cleanliness. Well it wasn’t. It might be a 4 star hotel for Uruguayan standards, but for the rest of the world its more like a 2 star old fashioned 60s hotel. We had a family room (2 bedroom) on the 7th floor. Already exiting the elevator we knew what we could expect. Floors with old carpet and full with nasty stains. The entire floor smells old and a bit like old sigaret smoke. Pretty nasty actually. The room itself is similar. Old floor with broken tiles and edges. Really sober and uninviting room, no decorations whatsoever. No ceiling lights. Old furnishings. No curtains just a screen. A big disappointment actually. Gym wasn’t available. We took a look but I wouldt even dare using those old machines actually. Certainly when you consider the price per night this place just isnt worth it. So after a night we expected a breakfast with some sort of business standard. But also the breakfast is a big disappointment and actually pretty tasteless. I dont know what they add to the scrambled egg, but smells weird. Fruits are out of date and nasty. Dry bread. Cold scrambled egg. And due to covid it is not allowed to get to the food yourself. One (sometimes 2) person is helping everyone in the hotel, so that didnt really work out. On day 3 all of the sudden our cards to enter the room didn’t work anymore, ofcourse solved at the reception but still annoying and strange. Well at least the free wifi worked well here. Overall I would recommend to book a different place with a higher standard, NH is a bit of disappointment considering the price per night.

What a dump with poor service

Things turned bad from the minute we checked in. Almost no English spoken. Room was dirty and we had to ask to have it cleaned each day. Shower broken. Floors/carpet dirty. They never got one meal we ordered right. I spoke to the Sales Manager about our issues as she was the only one I could find who spoke English. She was sympathetic, or appeared so. Late that afternoon we had a 300ml bottle of cold water delivered to our room on a tray with the compliments of the Manager. I assume this was instead of the free bottle they were supposed to supply as part of the rate.

Stay away!

We booked this hotel because of its NH Brand. We had just had a very good experience in Mexico City. The first glitch was that our pre-arranged taxi failed to show up at the airport, despite previous emails. Then, Imagine our shock when we arrived to find that this property was in the midst of major construction. The lobby is enormous, really inhospitable; there were a couple of couches and tables and that was it. When we reached our room, the view was very good, overlooking the Rambla. However, it was nothing like the Mexico City property, where the rooms are styled in a very cool way, and are spotless. Here, the carpet was stained, the wall covering also stained and peeling in places. The window shades and curtains showed dirt that looked like it had been there, overlooked, for quite a while. We finally found a single charging receptacle under the desk; as described on the website, there was an in-room safe, but when we asked for the combination, we were informed that ‘none of the safes in the hotel are working.’ Really, words can’t describe how ugly this room was. The rundown condition extended to the communal area. The same peeling and stained hallway carpet and wallpaper; the gym is lackluster, minimal equipment; and the rooftop terrace, while offering good views, was dirty, had nowhere to sit and the potted plants had been dead for some time; couldn’t leave fast enough! The dining room has a very nice view of the rambla, and the staff were very pleasant. The buffet options are reasonable, but get there early if you want the full buffet - some fruit, cheese plates disappear quite early and don’t get replenished. You can order eggs, with bacon, sausage, cooked to order - scrambled, omelettes - and this is a good addition. So why didn’t we leave upon arrival? It was a summer weekend, we didn’t know the city, and we had been traveling around the region for quite some time. We are an elderly couple and decided to put up with it. When the renovations are complete, this facility should be a good option, since the proximity to the Ciudad Vieja, Centro, and the Rambla is very good. But until then, buyer beware. Adding insult to injury, we had to pay the full rate - well over $200 per night; there was absolutely no offer of a reduction, or credit, to make up for the dismal stay. (We sent two emails to NH Brand: no response other than a perfunctory ‘thank you - we’ll get back to you.’

Not up to NH standards

Booked based on NH reputation worldwide but turned out to be a total deception. First of all, when booking we were not informed the hotel was under renovations. We were assigned a dark old room with a small bathroom that clearly needed restorations. The hallways were dark and seemed dirty. Would not recommend this to someone looking for standard acommodations, in fact we turned out switching hotels.
