We will come back.

We were traveling with our dog. We stayed in the trout river suite. It had a nice view of the small river and a gated deck we could let the dog out onto. Gina was wonderful. She helped us arrange a massage by Jackson who did a great job. She also recommended Green river state park for kayaking which was the nicest spot we kayaked on this trip. The breakfast was amazing. Gina let us sit in the gazebo with our puppy. The grounds are well kept. I will return and would recommend it for a small wedding spot.

We enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the staff/owners. Our room was very comfortable, I appreciated the step stool to reach the high bed, very clean room/private bathroom, free snacks and nice breakfast. Was a little surprised after we left, to receive our email receipt which included a gratuity charge. We always leave a generous tip in the room for maid service when we leave. Beautiful property in a small village. We ate dinner at Bernies one evening which is just down the street. Jay Peak ski is just 8 miles away where my husband played golf. Love the Vermont scenery!

We loved that the owners are very dog friendly and accommodating! The employees were also nice and made our breakfast experience special every morning even taking special requests! The suites are amazing and we loved the Trout Suite with a great view of the Trout River!
It honestly doesn't get much better than this

We selected the Phineas Swann Inn & Spa for a short trip to Northern VT with our 2 children and English Bulldog. We were looking for a small hotel or bed and breakfast that was dog friendly, as well as kiddo friendly. We found both at the Phineas Swann.
Instantly upon entering the Inn, I was amazed at how warm and welcoming the entry way and living room were. A wall adorned with wine selections was also quite pleasant looking! One of the Inn Keepers greeted me almost immediately and while she was showing another guest around, she encouraged me to poke around the living space and also take a peek at the dining recommendations binder they had placed conveniently nearby. Another large bookcase held several DVD's, a buffet held afternoon snacks, and a fridge held cold soft drinks (Free!) and beer/wine/cider (for a nominal fee).
Once it was my turn for the tour, I was shown where breakfast was served each day (a bright, charming, socially distanced dining room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the gorgeous back yard), and was also told I could dine outside on the deck or gazebo, or take breakfast back to our room.
Our tour then went outside onto the lush grounds, complete with 2 hot tubs (friendly for those age 5 and up). The property has a small river running through the back of it, which is just as charming as it sounds.
When it came time to see the room, it honestly exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the Bulldog Suite (of course) and it was tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and so charming. This room has 2 bedrooms (one with a king, one with 2 double beds) and a comfortable living space as well as a very nice bathroom with a deep bathtub. The room would not have been complete without a dog bed for our pup and plenty of milkbones! As for snacks for us, it was packed with treats and cold soft drinks in the fridge.
Breakfast each morning was delectable and delicious - we enjoyed blackberry stuffed french toast and ham and cheese quiche. My family and I chose to dine in the gazebo each morning, and the Inn Keepers graciously brought our breakfast to us. We also were able to help ourselves to cereal, yogurt, juice (several different kinds), coffee, fresh baked muffins and granola.
The location of the Inn was great for us. We had never been to Vermont and enjoyed exploring the area. From hiking to kayaking to shopping to dining, you will not be bored!
My only complaint was that our stay wasn't long enough. Everything about the Inn is charming - from the decor and rooms, to the staff and Inn Keepers. They were so kind and accommodating, for 2 legged guests and 4 legged guests. We would absolutely return in a heart beat.
Lovely Place to Stay While Visiting Our Family

We stayed in The Birch Suite in the Carriage House for several days. It was perfect for us - comfortable bed, the bathroom had been updated (large shower stall), lovely furnishings, even a pair of chairs for us to relax in during the evenings. This was our place of night-time respite while we visited with our 3 yo granddaughter and family nearby. Breakfast was delicious and they graciously welcomed our granddaughter and provided a special meal (see photo) when she was with us in the mornings. The fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies were a lovely extra each day, along with many other amenities such as (free) snacks, sodas, cold water, and wine/beer (available for purchase). The grounds are beautifully kept and the innkeepers and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will certainly consider returning to stay when we are in the area. Our least favorite? They are older buildings with uneven floors. We live in an older home, so it was not a big deal for us.
