Dirty Awful Hotel

I booked the trip for my family for the Thanksgiving weekend. On the travel site (Expedia and Booking.com) shows everywhere was booked so I thought this place is alright based on the travel site review. The cost is $130/night. I booked 3 weeks ahead of schedule for 2 rooms queens bed. When I got there, they say I booked only 1 room but lucky for me there is one extra left. The clerk was ok, not rude and say there must be a misunderstanding since the system wasn't update often. I got the 2 basement corner rooms (to the left of the staircase) of the hotel. The bed looks neat but when we lay down to rest, my feet touched an object which turned out to be a used condom. I had to get our clothing to spread on the cushions so my kids can sleep in a clean are. There is no cleaning service and there are no more extra linen for the 3 days I lived there. The room smell of smoke because the ventilation was connected to another room elsewhere who is smoking. Oh and the ventilation fan is on all day. There is no window in the room. The TV is old (one of those with large butt in the back) and the washroom is enough for just my kid and me to squeeze through so I can help her brush her teeth. This hotel have no parking except on the street if you are able to find one during that busy weekend. My sister decided to join us that weekend (last minute and found lodging at Comfort Inn) which is 10 dollar more for a nicer cleaner place. I wish I could just do that rather than follow the travel site and book this awful place. I would never come back to this place and would not recommend to anyone. If I could give 0 star I would.

Here is my first and last experience with Hotel Park Avenue, this experience was in conjunction with Hotels.com. Please learn from my experience and don't ever book through Hotels.com at 3am, especially not this hotel. So my mother who is 65 and myself were looking for an emergency room, as we lost our accommodation through Airbnb. I booked this hotel room at 3am throught Hotels.com thinking that I would be okay to check in. Got to hotel only to find that the front office was closed and we couldn't check in. I contacted Hotels.com to refund my money, but they information me that the hotel has 24 hr check in, I advised them that the front office was closed. They said they will get me my money refunded. I received a message from Hotels.com that it's the hotels policy not to refund, I'm not sure why it's not being refunded as I was unable to check in and clearly I wasn't able to stay there. Please be aware of this hotel as i feel like they are scamming people out of money. Thank you
Walking distance from basically everything.

The hotel is located basically at the park. Bus stops just like 3m away. Various restaurants are within 5m walking. The staff was very friendly. Room was as expected, nothing more, nothing less. Comfy w the bed, small private bathroom w showers. It was more, than OK.
Just fine for what it is

I was a little apprehensive about staying here after reading some of the reviews. But after checking in and settling down, I thought it was just fine for what it is: A budget hotel in a very good location. My room was clean and I found the bed quite comfortable. The bathroom was quite small, but also clean and fully functional. The wifi was on the slow side...not so great for streaming videos and such, but ok for checking e-mail and looking up directions. I came at a cold time of year and didn't try the AC, but the heating was adjustable and worked just fine. So if you're just looking for a clean and comfortable place to crash after enjoying all the awesome things Montreal has to offer and without breaking the bank, I would recommend staying here. Just have realistic expectations of what you're getting. I was glad to find this place and I would absolutely come again.
Worst Hotel For Horrible Cost

Don't stay here. The price was jacked up because of the festivals and events of the weekend, but this hotel jacked their rating bu four times their normal rate. The room was tiny, outdated, and dirty. The bathroom had no mirror or sink in it. The shampoo was impossible to tear open without scissors. The hot water was cut from our kitchen sink... Which was the only sink. For the price, it Wasn't even close to downtown. It would have been better to stay at a hostel for the night than this shack.
