WOW WOW WOW
After being in Thailand for a fair bit, it was time to finally get myself to Chiang Mai and I chose this place as overall the reviews were really good - and yet when we got there we were shocked at exactly how good this place really was! This guesthouse is very traditional with amazing wood detailing and really beautiful features. It has a tiny cold plunge pool at the edge by reception which is so perfect after being outside for too long. Our room was huge, We had a large bed and that room led to a living area that opened up to an outside area and another open shower area. All open areas were very private and covered from any bugs. The air con was really good too! The staff were so nice. They always talked to us and gave us suggestions for tours and things to see and do. Breakfast for me was really good - the BEST banana pancakes I have ever eaten and it came with an insane amount of ice cream! This was a big big plus! We just loved this chilled out place so much, it was exactly what we needed after sitting on beaches and being in crazy cities for so long. This place felt like home! We will definitely be back!
Not good value for money
I stayed two nights in this hotel and was quite disappointed by the price I paid va the quality of the room. Most of the “nice” hotel were fully booked and decided to get this one. The pictures on booking.com are far from the reality. Very disappointed by the breakfast. It was the worst banana pancake that I had ever. It did not look nor taste great. Positive point is the staff which is very nice and helpful - to rent a scooter, to book taxi for early flight, etc.
An Experience - home in a foreign land
A very welcoming guesthouse; cozy and comfortable that it gives homey vibe. It offers amenities you will find in a hotel with the exception of car service/airport transfer. It has limited number of rooms but each comes with their own varying design and features and are so spacious. So choose which you will find comfortable for your stay. My partner and I choose the Ayuthaya room. I believed this is the only room that's at 1st floor and it has no outside view although it has window and a private garden. Since the place is made of wooden floor, the room has part of it that creaks even if you lightly step on it. The lights are dimly lit, it gives an intimate vibe. As mentioned, the rooms are spacious although a working table or desk drawer could be place near the entrance as there is much space. It has a king-sized four poster bed with curtains, a desk and a chair, only one bedside drawer, flat screen TV, a fan, an AC, electric kettle, a spacious cabinet, fridge (mini bar), safe. The bathroom has the sink just outside it, the toilet and a bathtub/shower adjacent to each, also clothes rack, a pair of bathrobe, body towel and face towel. It is open at the top of the bathtub with screen to prevent mosquito or insects it but when it rains it could drip inside. The private garden is an extra room with a large sofa bed with artificial plants and grass. It has a door outside but locked out, it is quite pretty and good for taking photos and just relaxing. The staff is accommodating and speaks english. She is very quiet yet helpful and always ready to assist during our 2.5 days stay. The other staff that relieved her after is more friendly. The cook is also ready to assist and gave us a token when we checked out. Facilities - upon entering it gives this calm, quiet, welcome home feeling. There is a spa type music being played at the reception and there are complimentary snack and drink. There is a small pool that is around 5 feet deep. A smoking/waiting area at the very front facing the street, a restaurant that offers varying dishes. During our stay it feels as though we are just the only one in the guesthouse as we had the pool to ourselves during our stay and whenever we have our meal. There is a weighing scale you can use, which comes in handy as airports in Thailand have pay-per-use weighing scale for 10 baht. Each room comes with breakfast, you will choose from their menu the day before. If you are not much of an eater then the meal can be for two. As the serving is larger portion, maybe catering to a more western appetite. It is located far from the Thai Pae gate which where a lot of the commercial establishment are at, but it is nearby some of the temples. Airport is also close by, you can just book a grab. All in all, Seven senses is an experience.
A guesthouse that feels like a homestay but offers world class hotel experience
was a solo traveler and wanted to stay at somewhere homey and cordial. The guesthouse only has 7 rooms so this is probably why the staff tend to be more attentive due to lesser guests to manage. For the first 2 nights, I stayed in Rattanakosin Room which was decorated in a rustic yet elegant style and came with a huge traditional Thai style bed and sofa, and an outdoor shower at the balcony. It is an interesting experience using the outdoor shower especially when it is raining. As it is partially covered, I had both shower water and rain falling on me 😂 For my last night, I stayed in Manora Room. Its smaller than Rattanakosin Room though both are Junior Suite but Manaora Room has a jacuzzi tub. Manora Room is designed in a vintage French style and has a 4 poster bed. It is facing the main road so can hear noises from vehicles passing by but by night time the noise will subsidise and still able to sleep. You are required to remove your shoes when you enter the guesthouse so that the wooden floor stays clean for everyone.
A nice cosy stay with good service and good
This place was cozy and the service was very good. The manager spoke English well and had a friendly attitude. The room itself was quite small but we probably chose the cheapest one. The location was great and quiet. The food was really good. Overall, it’s highlights would be the food, location and service- the room itself was probably just a little under par for the price but considering the other benefits, it was worth it.
