Absolutely perfect short holiday. This hotel really is 5 star. Comfortable rooms with fantastic views, gorgeous pool area with comfortable sunbeds, fabulous food and helpful, friendly staff. The location is great too, just a 10-15 minute walk into town. Will definitely be back!
Lovely relaxing experience

From start to finish I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful hotel. The check in process was easy and relaxing and we where seated overlooking the pool during this process with a refreshing drink. We where then talked through all the details of the property and a map of the island with details about taxis etc which I found helpful. We where then taken to our room which was bright and clean and the bed extremely comfy. While we where there it was extremely windy which did rattle the shutters but we quickly resolved this issue with some common sense. The room was cleaned very well daily and timed by the cleaner perfectly while we laid around the pool. The property has a lot of stairs but as we had researched the hotel prior to booking this was expected and we have had similar experiences with all other hotels on Greek islands. Although it’s literally a 2 minute walk, there are staff in golf buggys that are on hand to drive you to the sister properties if required. The service in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner is very good- it’s clear to see that the staff work very hard and are really friendly and attentive, the food is also very good. We had breakfast every Morning and also dinner there on a couple of occasions and we where really impressed. We also had lunch around the pool which was delicious ( we had the burger cooked medium). Also I recommend you try the taster menu at Boa ( located at the sister property) - it was amazing.
We also went for a massage whilst there which I also highly recommend.
Couple of issues:
The pool was very cold.
If you want to use the gym this has to be booked in advance due to Covid but it was pretty impossible to get a slot due to people booking up in advance. We like our morning runs and to resolve this issue we where advised of a really nice route to run along the sea front by reception which was beautiful.
I would not hesitate to visit this hotel again, it really is beautiful and the staff throughout the property are very friendly / attentive and make you stay really special.
Style over substance

Precursor (and reason for the low-rating)
we booked this package - to include a dinner for two (for an additional €100) - back in November. On arrival, it seemed the hotel had cooled on the idea and it was made very clear the deal now *wasn’t* available.
Our complaint was brushed off by the patronising front office manager with “you haven’t been charged”. After umpteen emails from Rula, also from the front office, (she could have easily walked the 15 metres or so to speak to us in person) explaining why we couldn’t have the deal, she changed her tune when I suggested they hadn’t honoured the contract we entered into on booking.
A little too late, and service recovery isn’t ever going to be easy by email.
While the hotel tried to throw a few freebies at us, all we really wanted was what we’d booked, and the dinner was a key part of this. By the time it was given the green light, we’d long since fallen out of love with the hotel and didn’t want to give them any more of our hard-earned money.
The free transfer from the airport was quick and easy in a luxury (Mercedes) minivan. It’s about ten minutes, door-to-door.
The smart property is perched on top of a (very steep) hill. It’s part of a complex of similarly branded properties within the group.
The check-in process
Horribly complicated and drawn-out. Wholly unnecessary faffing. Sign this, sign that, hand over your credit card, take the credit card to reception. Did we want to rent a car, or a private transfer and more.
30 minute’s later and we’re finally walking towards our room. Due to the property’s position, it’s all very much up stairs/down stairs/up stairs/down stairs and unsuitable for anyone with reduced mobility.
A light, spacious and extremely clean. Great bed linen and a decent bathroom. TV doesn’t have volume for several channels (incl. BBC).
Seeing ‘Hers’ and ‘Hers’ slippers welcome us took the wind from our sails as a male couple. Despite a comment about this, the slippers were never changed.
The shutters on the windows bang throughout the night if left open.
When you only see the occasional swimmer in the pool (maybe three/four a day) you know all’s not well. The pools are unheated and, despite anyone saying they like a “refreshing” dip, cold pools aren’t enjoyable for the masses.
Hardly a relaxing experience. Nobody really supervising what’s going on makes for sloppy service. You ask for coffee with milk. The coffee comes, but not the milk. Ask for a latte. It comes, but nothing to stir it with. The food is actually pretty good, but the service lets it down (as mentioned in other reviews).
It’s a pretty hard slog to and from town (the latter more so because it’s uphill). Had I done more research, we would have stayed on the beach where we were previously.
Two outstandingly good members of staff were Andreas (restaurant) and Elia (pool). Both went above and beyond for guests and genuinely cared about the customer experience, something the front office team could learn from.
In conclusion, staying at the Kyma was a mistake for us.
While the hotel management may come back with a different account of events, I am crystal clear in that they refused to honour the deal I had signed up for.
Beautiful, convenient property with some service issues

Just completed a 3-night stay at the Myconian Kyma Design Hotel in Mykonos. Another beautiful property with a very LA vibe suitable for the island. Overall nice stay but service couldn't compare to the other hotels I reviewed previously (Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Corfu and Domes Zeen Chania).
Airport transfers were complementary and very easy and timely. Takes about 5 mins to get to the hotel.
I booked and received the Sunset Suite which was a great room overlooking the pool and sea, with views of Mykonos town. The hot tub worked great and gets full sun in the afternoon making it very relaxing after a hard day downstairs by the pool.
Pool time was great. Elina, one of the poolside servers, is outstanding and really shined with friendly service throughout. No wonder so many TripAdvisor reviews mention her.
Service otherwise was ok - much better than what you would find in the US but not as good as the other properties mentioned above. For example, on two occasions when I had direct contact with the hotel and after reconfirming before my trip through my Marriott Bonvoy ambassador, our restaurant reservations were not confirmed. Making it an awkward moment when we tried to sit down at Boa (affiliated restaurant at Korali) and Noa (top rated restaurant at the Kyma). Food at both restaurants were fantastic though.
WiFi was very intermittent so much that I just used roaming data. Thanks to At&t international day pass.
Mykonos is known I guess for being windy but it was extremely windy during the stay. Not so much of an issue other than annoyance in the room since the shutter windows bounce loudly throughout when open and have some damage as a result.
Overall, would gladly come back - great first escape to Mykonos!
Meh. Image over service.

Great first impression with email prior to arrival to coordinate transportation to the hotel. Flawless pick up at the port and friendly greeting/welcome. No acknowledgement of lifetime gold or even being part of the Marriott family.
The rooms are ok - not super functional for two friends since the shower is out in the open. That said the room is clean, functional and pretty much as pictured.
The issue really boils down to the level of service (well, lack thereof) at the pool restaurant. Lack of attention and lots of attitude. When I raised the point suddenly I got the mechanical response of service but no sincerity. Perhaps we were just spoiled for 5 days at an upscale Marriott property in Santorini - this is the exact opposite of that experience.
The location is great - a 20 min walk into the old port and away from the hustle.
