We have stayed at Burley Manor many times over the years but our recent stay surpassed all expectations. We were blessed with incredible weather which made eating on the terrace both tempting and enjoyable. The view over the deer park is wonderful as was watching the swifts wheeling overhead. The food more than matched the view. It was superb morning and evening. Indeed it was the best we’ve ever enjoyed at Burley Manor. The garden rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable, especially so in the hot weather with doors and windows opening onto private balconies overlooking the pool and immaculate gardens. Full marks to all the staff - front of house could not have been more helpful and welcoming and the bar and restaurant staff are professional and friendly. Manager Lizzie is doing a great job. Thank you everybody at Burley Manor for making us so welcome and helping us to relax after a very challenging year. Looking forward to our next stay.
Fabulous place. Shame about poor management

This was our second visit to Burley manor. Stayed there last Summer and loved everything about the hotel. It’s a gorgeous Place e, made better by the distraction of the herds of tame fallow deer who graze in the fields right in front of the hotel.
This visit we paid more for a grand deluxe double, with double aspect to the front and back of the hotel where the wedding venue is located. It was expensive, we paid £736 for three nights. We dined downstairs in the restaurant the first two nights and that did not disappoint. The food is still fabulous! On the first night there were a coup,e of issues with cold sides coming to the table, complete with a long strand of fair hair. This was dealt with promptly, and fair enough we were not charged for those sides as well as being offered free puddings ( there were four of us). Excellent customer service, we thought.
The problem came on the third night , when some of the wedding guests from the earlier wedding decided to have a paaarty in the bedroom above ours! Excellent! This was about a quarter to midnight, we were just about to fall asleep. But impossible with loud music, dancing and high jinks coming from above. I honestly thought they were going to come through the ceiling at one point. Called down to reception, but no answer. I can only guess they had gone up to have a word with the party goers. Because shortly after that the music stopped but the noise continued. We slept fitfully until it all went quiet about 3.30am. Only to be woken again when there was movement from on high, people moving furniture around the room, it sounded like.
So, feeling like death, after breakfast, my husband went to have a word with reception who weren’t much help, a lot of “oh dear, all I can do is apologise”. Don’t think so, lady. Still not happy I went out this time, to speak to the manager. One of the ladies there admitted sheepishly that she was “front of house manager” and how could she help. So basically a similar response to her colleague. Very ineffectual, apologetic, yes, but no form of real compensation. She said she’d have a look and see what she could do. This was after we had paid the bill, all done virtually now anyway, and as we were leaving to go home.
So, off home we went, feeling like death, craving a good nights sleep. All this after paying quite a sizeable amount for the privilege. If this had been the Premier inn or a cheap hotel, we would have sucked it up, put it down to experience and not make the same mistake again.
Since then I have been in email communication with the manager(front of house?) who while very sympathetic, could only offer us: should we decide to return, a free upgrade and a bottle of fizz. That’s all fine, but we may never return there again. There are lots of lovely places to visit in this country, especially whilst the travel restrictions abroad continue. Why would I choose to return somewhere I had a bad experience?
I did respond to her with these points and have heard nothing back. I did say I would be very please with a voucher to use, on a return trip. But Nada. Sorry , but I’m still really cross about it. I have no other option but to complain publicly this way as I have not been satisfied with the response of the hotel to my genuine complaint.
Excellent stay in Burley Manor

Just had a one night stay at Burley Manor. Absolutely lovely! Beautiful house and grounds and delicious food. Superb service from everyone.
The panna cotta wobbled, the fondant oozed and all the staff were delightful.
Some negative reviews on another site have mentioned doors... we think people need to look up at the beautiful deer and surroundings and concentrate on the important stuff!

A wondeful place to stay for a few days - or longer.

From our arrival until we left 3 days later we loved everything about this hotel. The welcome was friendly and staff attentive. Considering they had been closed because of the pandemic, you maybe could have expected one or two rusty edges to the service - there wasn't. Everything worked as you would have hoped..
It's an impressive building in a wondeful location with views out to the deer and open parkland beyond. The garden room bedrooms are comfortable and the bar has a good selection of cocktails. The cooking and presentation of the food is to a high standard and although the selection on the dinner menu is short, it should appeal to most people.
We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back, surely a sign of an excellent hotel.

Our second visit to Burley Manor, having stayed last year in August. We had a Garden Suite, we felt this years room was not quite as good as last years, the door to the garden needed attention. But, it still had the amazing view overlooking the deer park, and the pool, and a lovely lawn. The setting here is just beautiful, there are not many hotels offering a heated outdoor pool and a park full of red deer!
Food was mostly fabulous, sadly no Tapas on offer which disappointed a little, but breakfast is wonderful, allow a couple of hours and enjoy all the offerings. We were served by lovely Charlie, and Fernando, who were very attentive and friendly top marks to them. If you venture out of the hotel the new forest ponies are on the doorstep, and the Old Farmhouse tearooms opposite the hotel is worth a visit.
We felt very covid safe. Housekeeping was exemplary.
