Steps to Citi Field and US Open
The hotel is undergoing refurbishment in which the rooms are being remodeled as well as the hallways. The upper floors of 7 and 8 have been remodeled but the lower floors have not. The newer rooms have new furniture and a fresh look. The older rooms are clean and the beds are comfy but the rooms are dated and the carpet is old and peeling up in the hallways in certain areas. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable about the area for restaurants and transportation! The hotel has one of the best fitness rooms I’ve seen in most hotels. Plenty of cardio machines with cable machines, a smith machine, and free weights. It also has a very large indoor swimming pool that is staff attended. The hotel has a restaurant on the lobby level. There are some local restaurants within walking distance to include Mexican, Colombian, and Dominican Food options. There is a small grocery store about 10 minutes walk. It’s the closest hotel to the US Open being less than a 10 minute walk. Be sure to book early. The rooms book quickly. Citi Field is also a 10 minute walk as well. So close you can see it from the hotel. A pick up from the airport usually is around a 20 minute wait for the shuttle. The shuttle runs to the airport every half hour to the airport upon return. The ride there is 10 minutes but can be longer during heavy traffic times. If you choose to drive there is a parking lot and $22 a night.
Very Bad Experience
We stayed one night on Jan 31 before meeting our friends in NY next day. We checked in late around 11:30pm because the shuttle took 45 minutes to get to the airport. We checked out around 10 in the morning. Soon thereafter I picked up terrible rashes and allergies on my face. It’s really bad. I am hesitant to post pictures of me showing before and after. The skin became very sensitive and dry My wife’s face was red all over. It could be the room, sheets, bugs, or the toiletries. I hope the hotel takes their hygiene and cleanliness seriously for the sake of their guests. I am seeing a doctor and taking anti allergic medication as well as using anti fungal cream. Please be careful and do your research before using this property. If anyone else has had similar experience please contact me. Thanks.
The best part about this location is the service. From housekeeping to the front desk. The restaurant staff were especially helpful with breakfast each morning. We will definitely return. We were not in the renovated rooms but everything was still clean and well organized. The parking lot is small but it was nice to have a place to park. Most hotels in Manhattan don't even offer parking. The hotel is a short walk to subway. Also extremely close to Citi Field so we may have to return during baseball season.
ERICA at the Front Desk Rocks!!
I stayed here 12/30/2019, Erica at the front desk was so nice and took the time to help plan my trip in New York. I don't know if she is the manager but she surely presents herself like one. The rooms were newly renovated. There is a supermarket, and restaurants near the nearby metro subway 7 line. I enjoy being there and will return sometime.
Stayed in a room that was recently renovated and found it to be quite modern and comfortable...well above average for a Holiday Inn. The pillows and bedding were fantastic. Outlets were plentiful in nearly every piece of the new furniture. TV service was provided by Spectrum and featured an expansive line up, however quite a few were not receiving signal, even after a box reset. Airport shuttle service was prompt and efficient. Would use again when in need of a LGA area hotel.
