Valentine trip to NYC
The hotel is worth your money. Has a fridge in room and flat screen on the wall. Yes,rooms are small but its NYC ALL rooms are small. Area is super convenient. Directly across from Madison Square garden and Penn Station. Lots of shopping and eating right around the corner. We had the upgraded king room.
Appreciate Location, Convenience, Hospitality, Price
I have stayed at "Hotel Penn" many times, but this most recent visit was superior. One may stay in the newer side of the hotel, but for the price, the older unrenovated option is still a good consideration. I had a corner king room at the crossroads of 7th and 33rd. The room was cleaner than usual and had a bonus frig. As I was only there for a few days to attend the Westminster KC dog shows, and flying in from Honolulu, I picked the Hotel Penn for it's convenience throughout - Penn Station across the property making commuting in from JFK on the LIRR a breeze and departure back to Washington, DC on AMTRAK. Shuttle buses to the Piers for day shows were contiguous to the property and running consistently to and from. Evening program was at the Gardens so it was a simple walk across the street, all saving precious minutes to do squeeze in other points of interest by train or subway. Most important to me, staying at the Hotel Penn gave me an opportunity to observe how dogs were welcome at this property as I am always looking for properties that accommodate dogs. This centrally located hotel is close to everything - restaurants, POI, shopping, transportation hubs, and an almost 24/7 US Post Office right down the street. The only reason the rating was not a five is because the bathroom was not as complete as it could have been - no face towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap. Also, the bed was not "finished" as it was on the first day.
Serves the purpose
The Hotel is very old and has hardly been updated. The room I had, had a matress which was totally outdated. I guess it has been from the 60ies. It was a box spring mattress. But the Hotel is central. I have been there for the famous Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and for this reason the Hotel was perfect: central, inexpensive and they offered a Shuttle Service to the day time Shows. The Show in the evening was right across at MSG.

Really fast the checking and good service, the help was amazing, and the room was fantastic, hope next time with less money for a night. I paid almost 500 for 2 night, if it was cheaper I will be staying more day
Hotel charged after cancellation
I booked this hotel and due to circumstances, I had cancel. Cancellation policy was that it was free, if cancelled before 4/12. Cancellation was done on the 27/11. To my surprise my Credit card was charged for the full amount. After two months discussing, still no refund.
