Beautiful rooms, nice location but not the warmest service
Definitely some of the largest basic rooms in NYC. Nicely remodeled - very upscale. The room faced north and was very quiet. If I had to say anything negative about the hotel was the staff efficient but not very friendly. Everyone from the valet, doorman and front desk staff did there job just fine, but did not give off a good vibe. The staff at the Conrad Downtown seemed more happy to be at work when I stayed there.
Large Rooms, Great Location
We had a large and comfortable suite on the 5th floor. We faced a busy street but heard no noise whatsoever. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom equipped with a great stall shower. The separate sitting area featured a Nespresso coffee-maker, which was nice. The location was great for those on a theater trip (like us). There is only one on-site restaurant, which is good but (surprise) pricey. However, there are about 50 restaurants and cafes within a two-block radius. Our encounters with the staff, from doormen to front desk were all excellent. That said, the main floor area is small and there is no lobby to speak of, so if you arrive at a busy time, be prepared. We look forward to returning when things go back to normal.
I stayed in this hotel for my wedding night and the next. We checked in past 2 am and were rudely awakened both mornings before 8 by construction noise. Apparently, they were doing some sort of city-mandated repairs. I am shocked and terribly disappointed that I had this experience at a hotel that claims to provide a "one of a kind experience" with "Service that's more than personal, it's intuitive." I never would have booked this stay had I known about this. I believe it would be only fair if they let everyone know about this construction before they book their stay. How much would you pay for a hotel where you can't sleep due to noise ?!
Disappointing Conrad experience
This was a 5 night stay in NY for some work. The usual check-in experience was normal, but the 'treatment' to guests was the usual brutal 'NY' experience - cold, impersonal and having to listen to the over-cliched 'have a nice day' when they really don't mean it. This property works on a budget system, which I found to be very penalizing for guests because the final billing can rack up - but I can live with that. There were some disagreements with the final billing and I was informed that they will come back to me to sort that out, after check-out - NO ONE FROM CONRAD DID. The only thing good here was the 'largish' room size, which I prefer. Overall, having stayed at several Conrad's, this was really very disappointing.
Nicest Hotel in NYC
My husband and I spend few nights at Conrad Midtown last week amidst virus but it was planned since we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Plus we had friends coming from overseas to celebrate with us....It was a wonderful hotel and excellent staff. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite which we enjoyed very much. Very clean, spacious and plenty of amenities. Great restaurant in the lobby.
