Stunning sunset over the harbour

We stopped at the harbour on an evening as the sun was setting, it was absolutely beautiful. Even out of season we could tell that this is where people likely head to party in Cornwall, we would love to explore it more.
Dinner with a view

I called in this restaurant whilst walking around the harbour on 13th October. I found a table overlooking the harbour. I had the fish and chips and it was gorgeous freshly cooked. The young lady who served me was friendly and made me feel relaxed. A lovely experience would visit again
FAB VIEWS AND BREAKFASTS. GREAT STAFF. TRICKY PARKING.

My husband and I have just stayed for 10 fantastic nights at The Harbour hotel. Parking is difficult, so, having secured a space right outside the hotel, we didn’t move the car for the duration! You could pay but it’s an uphill walk to the nearest proper car park. Buses go hourly to Padstow, Truro etc. so we used those and simply enjoyed relaxing at the hotel and on our balcony. The views of the harbour and other beaches are second to none. For the 6 nights that The Harbour Fish and Grill restaurant below the bedrooms was open (same owner, different businesses), we ate dinner there. I have reviewed the restaurant separately. The food there is fabulous and the chefs top rate. All breakfasts are taken there and they were wonderful. The staff all seem very happy to work in the hotel and the restaurant. Every one of them looked after us really well and were incredibly helpful. Aaron, the owner even bought me a wire basket to put in our en suite when I said that, for medical reasons, I had difficulty in bending down to the shower tray to pick up the shampoo etc. off the floor. He also provided me with a birthday cake with sparklers on it on the appointed day! There are a few things which need a bit of attention: there is no grab rail in the shower and the floor is very slippery. The only ledge in the tiny bathroom was so narrow that we had to put our wash bags on an upended suitcase in the bedroom. The mattress is so hard that I was given a mattress topper to fold into four under the bottom sheet to help make it a bit softer. If you have any spare fat on you, you probably wouldn’t notice this so much!! The bedroom door can only be opened from inside by pulling on the tiny Yale latch and is a fire door so weighs a ton. A small handle would easily solve this. None of these problems is major and it wouldn’t stop us from staying again but they are a bit irritating and unnecessary. I have still given five stars as we had such a lovely time. There are only five bedrooms (all with balconies) so it’s very quiet at night, such a bonus. Highly recommended hotel.
Wonderful stay again

We have stayed here before and on each occasion stayed longer. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a great time. We were greeted on arrival and the lady was very helpful. The room was comfortable, bed ok but I prefer softer but this is personal choice and not a bad reflection. Fab warm shower. The view is out of this world. If you love Newquay you’ll love the view. We had the bedding and towels changed on a regular basis, more if needed. It’s a quiet hotel in the evening so sleep is guaranteed. The breakfast are generous and scrumptious. Eating on the balcony with the sunrise is amazing. We are in the restaurant twice but booking is highly recommended. 10/10 for the food. Service is professional but relaxed. It does feel like you are staying with family. We had drinks in the room and we nearly asked for room service for food but fell asleep after a day at the beach. The hotel is located between fistral and the centre of Newquay so perfect for exploring. Parking is an issue like everywhere else. There are five ‘free’ spaces outside but taken up quickly. I would highly recommend using the JustPark app to find suitable parking. We did and paid £70 for the two whole weeks. All in all Aaron and Team made our stay special yet again. Miss the place already.
Great food in beautiful surroundings

Simple fresh food cooked fantastically well in wonderful surroundings overlooking the small but busy harbour Quite difficult to get a reservation as few tables so early booking advised, we were here for a week so a 3 o’clock booking was fine but might not be for others Great fresh fish and impressive wine list
