More about the hotel
Nothing Special
The hotel is overrated, nothing special or worth booking. The service is average, the waiters are really nice. The hotel room wasn't cleaned properly or at all. There was a sticky substance by the bed rest and there was dirt in the shower. The sheets were obviously old, and there was a hole in them. We didn't have a cleaning lady for the Saturday we stayed, which was annoying for the price we payed to stay for 2 nights from Friday to Sunday. We stayed in the premium suite which wasn't spacious. Waste of money 10/10. You're really paying for the view and that one purple light feature. Also the TV kept glitching and switching channels.
Beware - They will not pay if they damage your car!
I hate to leave a critical review but here I have a responsibility to warn others. During my last stay at YOTEL New York, I had driven into the city to attend a Broadway show. For an overnight fee of $45, I left my car in the custody of Yotel's parking partner (called MPG) in the basement of the property. When I picked up my vehicle, the antenna was crushed - they had parked the car in a space too short for my sedan and it was no longer functional. They admitted fault and we completed a damage report (attached). Notwithstanding this, they never once responded to any phone call or email (there were many of each) where I followed up with the cost of repair to seek resolution. I contacted Yotel and MPG, at the property and at MPG's parent company, but to no avail. Yotel and MPG have taken no responsibility for their damage, and I wish I could have taken days off of work to appear in NYC court for a small claims action. I have parked my car in NYC for years and among the very few times I had damage to my car it was quickly and professionally resolved. Let this be a warning to others who are considering a stay at Yotel.
NOTEL Experience
*Sigh Sigh* Where to do I even begin? I will be talking about the Premium Queen View cabin. Let's begin with the aesthetics. The all white, LED purple lights, and multiple mirrors definitely give this place a futuristic feel which is really neat. The smart bed and memory foam mattress were the best part of this room. However, our room was tiny and totally misrepresented online. The TV was crooked with all wires exposed. The curtain that is suppose to separate our bed from the bathroom was missing. Communication with staff was not the best. It took us an hour to try and figure out how to connect our iPhones to the smart TV as there were no instructions in the room on how to cast. It took forever to get in touch with someone at the front desk and when we finally did their instructions for how to cast were incorrect. If you are just looking for a place to drop your bags and sleep this is the place for you me. If you are looking for a full on experience I would totally book else where.
Don’t do prepaid booking - Yotel closes unable to offer room and yet doesn’t refund
Yotel closed its doors and informed me they would not be able to provide the room I booked and paid for two nights. I prepaid well in advance and now I regret it. Unbelievable that they then said 90 days to refund, well that didn’t happen and now a revised two weeks, that didn’t happen. So don’t risk booking and pre-paying as it is not guaranteed and they don’t have the decency to refund your money that they did not provide the service of. Please see photos of emails and correspondence to understand the absolute unbelievable experience.
NYC yotel is awesome!
yotel of NYC is hard to beat. I has everything you would want and the staff is top notch. I would, without hesitation, recommend staying here. The amenities are excellent. The cleanliness of the hotel can not be beat.
