Is this view worth £280 a night?

Reviewed 21 october, 2022

Lovely communal areas, but average rooms with shocking views for £280 a night, I won’t be staying here again. Breakfast was decent and staff was kind, unfortunately none of that makes up for the views over the car park and noisy deliveries early in the morning.

Lovely afternoon tea

Reviewed 13 october, 2022

Attended an afternoon tea with parents in their mid 80s and a close family friend who is almost 97. Easy parking and staff couldn't have been more helpful to ensure that our group had a lovely time. Although there are a few steps, there were ramps available. The food was lovely and we were not hurried at all. Abdul especially was great. He dealt with my mother repeating herself a number of times without batting an eyelid.

This hotel stay will never be forgotten!! Fantastic communication with the staff before we arrived, they went over and beyond to make our time special in every way. The grounds were stunning, and so was our room! The most beautiful room I have ever stayed in!!! Bubbles and chocolates on arrival, even a birthday card!! The little touches made this occasion so very magical. We were blown away by the food, a five course tasting menu. There was one thing on the menu that I didn’t particularly like and they were very accommodating and the chef made me something different from another menu. Without being asked, the kitchen brought out a birthday dessert for my husband! It was amazing! We loved our time in the pool, the sauna and the steam room. Sadly the jacuzzi wasn’t working but the experience was still very lovely and relaxing! So much so I fell asleep lazing by the swimming pool. Outstanding in every way, goes without saying I’d definitely go back!!!!!

Great until thumping music from kitchen waking us at 6am

Reviewed 16 september, 2022

A beautiful neo-gothic hotel which we were very excited to stay for our wedding anniversary. We were in the Keats Suite. Staff were polite and friendly throughout our stay (special shout out to Niamh who added personal touches to our stay/celebration and was very warm and a credit to the hotel). The food in the Cloisters Restaurant was also exceptional and a real treat. We were however unfortunately very disappointed to be woken up at 6am by thumping music from downstairs which we discovered was coming from the kitchen. Despite complaining to reception, the music continued to be played very loudly until we left early before checkout time - not a great end to our stay. The staff on reception seemed shocked but didn’t deal with this adequately and we left feeling like we weren’t really heard or listened to and I can now see that another review on here in January 2022 has commented on this too - for the price we paid we won’t be coming back. Another small gripe was the fact that there wasn’t anywhere to walk on the grounds (except a small piece of field next to the spa area). Apparently Nutfield sold off a lot of their land - this was a real shame. Other venues we have stayed at like Wotton House topped this overall for the reasons above.

The treatments made the day.

When we arrived we were a bit disappointed having visited several quality specialist spas. This facility was like a bolt on to a hotel in separate building with gym and squash facility. There was a simple pool and jacuzzi and plain wet and try saunas. The relaxation room cool and nothing special. All clean and well maintained. The afternoon tea was nice and ample. Had excellent treatments that really lifted the whole visit. The staff were also nice and welcoming. The Spa trip meet our needs but sure if I would ho back.
