Clean and comfortable
Wyndham is clean and comfortable. We had a great time staying here while visiting Disney. If you are looking for a place to stay while visiting Disney with family, check out this hotel. The location is perfect, restaurants are nearby. The staffs are very accomodating, excellent service!
Calm vibe, responsive staff, well-landscaped
This review is for a stay I had in the last week of April 2019. I just realized I never posted it! The Wyndham Cypress Palms is a lovely, well-maintained small resort which is set back from International Drive enough to maintain a peaceful aura while maintaining close proximity to all the attractions in the Orlando area. The landscaping of the resort consists of an abundance of shady, mature trees, which is unusual for most Florida resorts which have been constructed recently. The trees give the property a calm vibe. The staff does an excellent job of upkeep, which is evident because the grounds have been maintained so well. Speaking of the staff, I was extremely pleased with the level of service I received during my stay. The resort has an option to text the front desk if you need anything. I received polite responses to my texts promptly and was pleasantly surprised at the response times to my requests. There seemed to be an appropriate amount of staff members to meet the needs of the guests, and the staff members were genuinely concerned with guest satisfaction. This was in direct contrast to the service I've received at other timeshares in the area, which often demonstrated an attitude as if they don't care about my business or not. The resort sits on a spot which is within convenient walking distance to a number of convenient chain restaurants like Pizzeria Uno, Krispy Kreme, Cracker Barrel, Chili's, and a CVS drugstore. The resort is directly adjacent to these businesses. We especially loved getting hot, fresh Krispy Kreme donuts in the morning. You can also easily Uber/Lyft to any of the Disney theme parks from this location and save yourself the parking fees/parking lot hassle. The price is comparable to what you'd pay for daily parking. The two pools are somewhat small, but they sit on the shore of the small retention pond (called a lake for ambience) with an intermittent fountain in the middle. This location makes the pool areas seem more natural and calm. The uniform four story buildings are set close together with unit entrances opening directly to the outdoors. Our unit had a screened-in balcony which was particularly nice in the mornings and evenings. The 1-bedroom deluxe unit was equipped with four of everything (forks, plates, towels, washcloths), which made frequent washing a necessity, but there was a dishwasher and washer/dryer in the unit. The air conditioner in our unit was pretty finicky, and it had a very hard time getting the humidity out of the air. This is a timeshare property, so after checking in I had to go over to the Wyndham desk to "get my parking pass," which is timeshare code for "separate the timeshare sales experience from the check-in experience." Ideally, I would prefer not to have to undergo an experience in which I am offered incentives and strongly encouraged to attend a 90-minute sales presentation, but I only had to politely say no three times before receiving my parking pass. I also took another reviewer's suggestion of unplugging the phones in my unit to avoid continued pressure to attend sales/incentive offers. Honestly, the Wyndham sales presentation may be very low-pressure and the incentives may be worth 90 minutes of my time. However, after only one presentation (from another timeshare company) in which I was pressured, coerced, guilted, bullied, and finally insulted before the salesperson decided I wasn't going to leave without my incentive, I'm completely done with those presentations. I can't imagine the incentive large enough to convince me to risk ruining another vacation with an experience like that. Sorry to go off on a tangent, but hopefully Wyndham recognizes the compulsory/coercive nature of withholding someone's parking pass until they've received a sales pitch. Wyndham, if you put the parking pass in my hand first I think I would have less misgivings about the sales pitch. Overall, we enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing, enjoyable stay at the Wyndham Cypress Palms. Our room was clean and quiet, staff was immediately responsive to our needs, and the resort felt pleasantly removed from the usual hustle around WDW.
Does Wyndham make you feel special?
You can (almost) always count on Wyndham quality and expect a great experience. When our room was less than "desirable" Nicole Morales in Guest Services made it right with a smile. The whole staff was pleasant and accommodating, except for the Marketing Group in regard to the usual owner update...our owner status was in limbo, yet we were scheduled for and offered"perks" for attending an hour's presentation the first thing in the morning after our check-in! We finally found the meeting site with no help from the guard at the gate and then learned we would receive no update, no breakfast/snack, no "perk" because they had scheduled us in error! Several in person and telephone attempts went unanswered and/ or unresolved. We left there March 14 and have still heard nothing--don't think we even got an apology! Not a good way to treat a guest or 35 year military retiree!
Floors were filthy. I requested twice to have them washed. After our two weeks I threw out 3 pairs of slippers due to the filth. I even showed my slippers to the check in staff. First pic after 2 weeks. Second picture is after 48 hrs...before and after. Same thing happened last year. Will not go back!!!
Warm temps in March
Room was not ready at check in since I was requesting first floor. The room was clean and very comfortable and located next to the activity center and next to pool number one. They have activities regularly scheduled Weekly for all residents. Very accommodating. Location is on the busy highway near Disney so there’s high traffic continuously.
