Tricky Reservation process - Caution!
Reviewed 30 December, 2020
Finding a good local phone number is tricky! Got caught making a reservation via a third party costing an extra $15. The following items in order of occurrence;
1) Front desk asked me to initial approval of room rate without a rate specified
2)one of two room key cards did not work
3)wintertime, room set to "cool"
4)Television did not work and front desk could not help
5)Room door did not allow locking from inside
6)Closet bifold door totally inoperative (broken / misaligned)
7)even after numerous attempts to confirm free breakfast offer during reservation process, they (understandably) only offered "grab-and-go" due to Covid 19.
8)The internet presence of the local Comfort Inn, Ottawa kansas almost defies anyone from finding the local telephone number.
Wanted to De-Stress But Skip Room 324!

We’ve had the 2020 stuff happen (job loss, teens schooling forced remote, surgeries with issues, ect.). We needed a getaway! So after reading reviews we chose Comfort Inn.
Upon check-in, the woman working the front desk was on her cellphone for a personal call so we stood and waited a few minutes for it to end. Other than that, check-in went smoothly.
In the small hallway waiting for the elevator, I was grateful to see a modern vending machine that offered Pure Leaf iced tea, until we saw the “Out of Order” sign on it.
On to the room...my husband likes cool and the room was hot and stuffy. We turned on the air and went out for dinner. It’s an older hotel so we didn’t expect miracles or anything but after being gone for over an hour,it had only cooled slightly. Plus it sounds like a Kitchen-Aid electric mixer on ALL the time. It’s loud (and you don’t even get cookies for all that noise)!
The ceiling had experienced a water leak and never been fixed so both it and the wall were an eyesore. (Others have mentioned it so why not fix it already!)
As previously mentioned on other reviews, there used to be a grab bar in the tub but now it’s missing. As a disabled person, that would have allowed me to shower, so I couldn’t do that.
The building has settled so the door caught on the carpet when closing and had to be forced shut. Also, the security lock on the door was broken off so only the door knob lock remained. There was light all around the door when closed.
The closet door was gone? Not sure why but the track was still there and no door.
Bed was comfortable but overall, the stay wasn’t that great and breakfast was reduced to “Grab & Go.” This was a banana muffin, apple fruit bar, and strawberry fruit bar. We had a hot breakfast elsewhere. I would not stay in Room 324!!
Awesome place and it has a hot breakfast!

This place offers a hot breakfast which is a plus during the pandemic as a lot of motels offer a very basic breakfast. This motel was also very pristine as far as being clean with comfy beds. Applebee's is across the parking lot which is another perk and do recommend this place.
Great place to stay

We stayed at this location on our way to MN. Linda at the front made it very easy to check in and was pleasant to talk to. She helped us with an issue on our reservations. The hotel was perfect after a long days drive. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I would stay here again when passing through.
Helpful staff; room 324

Pro: The staff at Comfort Inn were all helpful. Good location to access the Prairie Spirit Trail. This location actually served a hot breakfast. Nice bedding and mattress.
Con: We stayed in room 324. The AC is VERY loud. Some highway noise. Ceiling repair was questionable in our room and hallway. Tub surround once had a grab bar which had been removed but holes/rusted metal washer remained. Water pressure was low.
