A hidden gem
Reviewed 19 January, 2020
I hesitate to give a glowing review for fear that this hidden gem will be discovered, and reservations will be hard to get. But it is too good not to share. The guesthouse is on a short, quiet soi close to the beach, restaurants, bars, shopping centres and other attractions and conveniences. It is clean and extremely well maintained. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious with good closet space and have small balconies. They serve breakfast at a modest price, and keep cold beer and soft drinks in a cooler at prices not much higher than the convenience stores. There is no elevator for the five floors, so anyone allergic to stairs might be turned off. Also, it is quiet property, so partyers might want to go elsewhere. The room rates are well below most of the properties in a one kilometre radius. Overall, this offers good value in a relaxed atmosphere.

Bad hotel/guesthouse ever!

We booked a van to go to Koh Lanta with this place, when we were paying, this place kind of managed nicely, the schedule was to get out from the hotel at 12.30 pm to be arrived Koh Lanta at 5.30 pm then once we got in to the van, the van dropped us somewhere we did not know at 13.20 then told us there will be anothe van waiting for us where he dropped us, then he dropped us, it seems weird then we asked the only one guy that was around, he said we have to wait until 3.00 pm cause the van is broken, if we did not ask someone there we would not know and when we called the hotel, instead of fixing their problem we had to 🤔deal and talk with the mad agency on our own the agency said if we are not happy to wait then take the money back, no one take responsibility just to wait and not knowing if a new van will be on time or will pick us up because the first van took our ticket, we called the hotel the 2 girls talked about how good they was but not trying to help us and lied to us by saying we will be arrived by 7pm.but the fact that the guy told us was 8.30 pm. not earlier than that also they said the first driver told them that we both are foreigner he did not understand us but I am Thai and spoke with the first driver in Thai or if we both are foreigner why treated us differently. Finally we got back only 800 baht not 1400 baht as we paid and it was our fault that we could not wait! And lost 5,600 baht with the hotel in Koh Lanta, WORST management ever, I wish TripAdvisor has 0 score or minus, I would give this place!
Scammed with double charge
Reviewed 15 August, 2018
I got charged twice. I checked in this hotel and booked with Agoda, they scammed me saying that I had to pay in cash, then I paid as requested and later, I checked my credit card and I got charged on it as well.
I talked to the manager for the double charge and asked for a refund and she refused to do it.
Very dodgy, be careful here.
Good budget hotel

Pride Wan Guesthouse is the perfect location to stay if you want to stay near Patong Beach (~5-10 minute walk) and Bangla Road (~15 minute walk). It’s also super affordable compared to other hotels nearby. We paid 1100 baht per night. (~$36/night)
My husband and I were a little bit hesitant about booking this hotel as we arrived in the middle of the night. The hotel is located in a random alley, and their lobby is open. Upon arriving to the hotel, there wasn’t a receptionist but there was some random guy sleeping on a bench. After waiting for around for a bit, my husband woke the gentleman up and turned out he was the receptionist. He was kind of rough around the corners but took care of us well by checking us in and walking us up to our room.
If you have difficulty walking up stairs, this is NOT the hotel for you. Our room was on the fifth floor, and the steps are a uneven. The hotel is spotless though with tons of furniture to put your stuff on. The room is a little outdated, but the air con works well and there is an abundant supply of hot water. The sheets and towels were clean too. Also, the perks to being located in the alley means that the location is very quiet.
You can also book day trips and ferry rides at the receptionist. We opted not to do this here as there are tons of tour booths located at every few steps in Patong.
I would recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a quiet, affordable hotel in Patong located close to the beach. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
- They have beach towels available but they will charge you 20 baht per towel at the front desk.
