Everything we wanted & more

Reviewed 27 november, 2022

What a happy place this is! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here as a family of 3 with our 2.5 year old son. We travelled with Jet2 and found it to be a friendly & seamless experience. We arrived in the afternoon after a fairly long transfer from the airport (1h45mins). If you have youngsters I recommend some entertainment for the coach journey. The reception staff were warm, friendly & quick with check in. We even got some bubbles as a welcome drink which went down very well after a long journey from the UK. We were then upgraded to a suite which was a nice bonus too! The suite was a good size with the sofa made up for our little one to sleep in. We had to move the TV into the bedroom as we wanted to watch it after our son was asleep. We had a small kitchenette which I wasn’t expecting. It had a kitchen sink, fridge & microwave which was useful. Bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower. It was all very clean & the maid visited everyday to keep it that way. The bedroom had twin beds pushed together which made it tricky to cuddle up without half falling down the gap! But I suppose most hotel rooms are set up like this nowadays. The kids pools were great, perfect for younger children, 0-6 I’d say. There was a small heated baby pool with 2 little slides. Then 3 bigger slides in a different pool for toddlers & young children. Parents could join their kids on the slides so it was good fun for everyone. My son also enjoyed the big pool as it was very shallow at one end. I joined in aqua aerobics one lunch time which was fun. It’s on everyday I think. The other adults pool was hardly ever used. Maybe it’s more popular during the summer months when it’s busier. We always got sun beds & a parasol everyday. There were plenty although I’m sure things are different during the school holidays. The beach was amazing! The sea was wild most days but beautiful. We all enjoyed the waves & rock pools. Beware, there were a few nude bathers 😆 I had a massage & used the spa facilities which I’d recommend if you have the time & extra €€€. Very peaceful. Mini disco! My son still talks about it now & the songs are still (unfortunately) engrained in my mind! Entertainment afterwards was a-bit hit & miss. We saw some excellent dancing & acrobats but also some cringey stuff from the in house team (although they tried their best!). Lastly, the food was fantastic! So much choice, you won’t be disappointed. Beautiful fresh fish, meats, salads & desserts everyday. Really tasty. Wait staff cannot do enough for you. In fact, all staff were excellent. Well done Iberostar for making our a holiday fabulous one! I’d be back in a flash!

Iberostar Playa Gaviotas Park is a hotel that I would certainly recommend to families with children. It's safe, has great service and delicious food. It offers very good care for children and a nice swimming pool with attractions for children. Great bar in the evening. We will gladly return there in the future.

Great food, great staff, great value

Great hotel, great staff, great food, great weather. Staff are fabulous in all areas, lovely pools one is much warmer than the other but plenty of space for everyone. Probably the best food we’ve had in an all inclusive and although the restaurant area isn’t that big it never seemed crowded. The entertainment staff work very hard and provide a variety of activities and are hilarious in some of the evening shows. It’s a shame the evening show finishes at 10pm then there is nothing after that. Only some background music in the bar. The room we had was very basically furnished even though we’d paid for a sea view suite on the top floor (great view) so I’m wondering if it was worth the upgrade? everything was very clean the hotel could just do with a spruce up, lick of paint and maybe some more modern furniture. Plenty of sun beds and great to have some shops on site as it was quite a walk to the nearest shops and very hilly. 15/20 mins to the local Spar or to the far end of Jandia Playa was a good 30-40 minutes although there are some bars/restaurants on the way to stop for a drink. It is a fair trip from the airport too so transfer time is 60-90 minutes but well worth it. We’d definitely come back here.

Good, but not great.

My wife and I spent 7 nights at this hotel in early November. The hotel is situated in a complex of three Iberostar properties. , Playa, Palace and Park. The Gaviotas Park is the least expensive though not cheap. On arrival first impressions not great, the hotel lobby and reception quite small And not very welcoming. The reception staff really nice and helpful though. We were given the key you our room and advised that towel cards would be €20 each, i though this practice was over, it’s just a pain. Also a little annoyed that the battery operated room safe was €3 a day. Things like this should be standard in a 4* hotel. The room bad quite basic. We paid for a partial Sea view , which we got . Very partial! if you lean your head and look over the car park. The bed was super comfy . Good wardrobe space and we had a junior sweet which had cooking facilities. Microwave , hob, fridge and sink which we did not use because we were all inclusive. The bathroom was very nice. Shower hose broken, broken tiles, black around bath. Just very tired. Room could do with a refurb. Particularly bathroom. TV loads of channels in Spanish, German and French . Very little English but I’m wasn’t there to watch tbh. However most resorts now are giving access to Netflix etc. need to update and move with times. Food. This is where I rate very highly. For an all inclusive food was top notch, loads of variety and good quality particularly dinner. With some lovely wine. Drinks. Really good you could help your self not only to soft drinks and coffee. But also to beer, wine and premium spirits, including Bombay gin, Havana club rum, good quality whisky and Prosecco. Pool area is great never had an issue getting sun beds . Again help your self drinks . Gym was good but limited opening hours of 10:00-19:00 not good if you want a pre breakfast gym session. Maybe consider opening longer. Limited options for entertainment in evening. One bar after show bar closes. Show bar had some interesting if not amateur shows. But it was ok. Bar staff great and incredibly hard working. Overall property is kept very clean and is s pleasant environment with vey friendly and hardworking staff. Disappointed with quality of the rooms. Just felt a little bit basic and rough around the edges particularly bathroom which wasn’t nice. Definitely could do with a refurbishment and modernisation to bring into 21st century. USB ports etc. and stop charging for basic stuff like safes and towels. Just makes the hotel feel cheap and basic.

Delicious food, very good staff

First time travel as a family with all inclusive and I would do it again. Hotel was big, very nice activities for whole family, staff really helpful, pools clean and despite the hotel was looking full the pools had enough space for all. The buffet every day was unbelievable.
