An unforgettable experience

Reviewed 7 october, 2022

We have just returned to Shamwari for our third time (first at Sindile) and it didn’t disappoint - it’s better every time! This was our third time with Mino (aka the Indian Ranger) and he goes above and beyond to make the experience. You don’t just see animals you have experiences - learning about them / watching their behaviour and even eating your lunch surrounded by elephants! We were also joined by a trainee ranger Ryan who was brilliant - a passion for what he is doing and just as excited as us to see the wonders of the bush - a fantastic ranger in the making and learning from the best!!! Great to see Shamwari investing in the next generation of talent. The lodge is truly special - the views are spectacular, the staff friendly they love to talk about the day with you and the food was superb. Everyone at Shamwari can not do enough to make your stay one you will never forget. So much so we will definitely be returning for our 4th visit!!!

Our trip to Shamwari Sindile was absolutely incredible. We saw so many animals up close and personal, the landscape was breathtaking and our ranger, Tiem was very knowledgeable. The food was delicious and service and accommodations were perfect. We highly recommend visiting this lodge!

Awe inspiring viewfinder and bush experience With Ranger Mino

Reviewed 26 august, 2022

Ranger Mino is truly an awe inspiring human being. Our family were blessed with Ranger Mino. We spent four nights at Shamwari, a return visit. We have been blessed on various games drives over the years. At Shamwari the staff are so professional and go out of their way to ensure you feel thoroughly spoilt. They are warm and friendly and welcoming. The most memorable and special part was the time our family spent with Ranger Mino. This trip our teenager was in charge of photography for the first time. Ranger Mino showed him how to take different angles and his immense experience meant we found ourselves time after time, in a memorable location, at a perfect moment in time literally to capture stunning unique images of the bush and animals. Ranger Mino inspired our entire family young and old, he taught us valuable photographic skills for the bush, he delighted and informed and inspired us with his knowledge and experience. We were blessed with our numerous animal sightings. You were relentless. We truly treasured every moment Mino with you, thank you for the most memorable and truly outstanding safari. Thank you for making our world better for us and our future grandchildren, a true gift. We left feeling thoroughly relaxed, informed, special and blessed to have spent time in your company. We will remember this trip forever. Thank you Mino.

Wow ! Best holiday ever !

Reviewed 5 june, 2022

From leaving the house to reaching the lodge took us 36 hours, but worth every second. We had been to Shamwari 6 years ago and stayed at Eagles Crag, from then on that had been the holiday to beat. However, Sindile Lodge surpassed all expectations and is now easily top of our holiday charts. From being picked up at the park entrance by ranger Patrick (a major contributor to the experience), the holiday really began during the short trip to the lodge with sightings of Giraffe, zebra, gazelle and elephants en route. On arrival at the lodge the greeting was so friendly we felt like we were family returning home, this atmosphere remained for the whole visit. Our lodge was beautiful, I remember thinking instantly, I’m not going home. It was spacious, well designed with plenty of glass, most amazing views, we saw 4 of the big 5 from our room, Comfortable, clean and tidy, with a luxurious big four poster bed. The only problem is you really just do not get to spend much time in the room around the two daily game drives. The restaurant too was beautifully designed, with some amazing views of the area, we had a large male lion turn up outside during one meal. Food was A1 gorgeous, morning, noon and night, with the staff again being genuinely helpful and friendly throughout. We had two game drives a day, each lasting around three and half hours (absolutely flew by), seeing Lions, Elephants, Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra, Gazelle, Kudu etc, up close and personal but we always felt safe. We saw hunts, chases, Lions eating their prey and on one drive, a young Elephant covered in a fresh mud bath, tapped the front of our jeep with his trunk as if to remind us he lived there. Our guide Patrick was amazing, very friendly, knowledgeable and more than happy to go off road to search for the rarer and more obscure sightings. We also bumped into Mino the ranger from our previous visit, who again made us feel very welcome and VIP. It truly was the greatest experience of our lives, special thanks to Kanyisa, Xolelwa, Uleen, Shanel, Luvuyo, Wendy, Andrea, Ayanda and of course Patrick for making it so (apologies for anyone who I missed out only we lost our list of names).

Beautiful place

We spent 4 nights at the Sindile lodge which was breathtakingly beautiful. The lodges are stylish and luxurious, elevated above the landscape where you can often see animals passing by. The service was incredible, massive shout outs to the waiting staff; Andy and Dahnee who were incredibly attentive and friendly. Our ranger Keenan was excellent, really knowledgable and made the drives fun. Would recommend scheduling the bush walks with your ranger- was extremely adventurous and exciting! Also a visit to born free to understand the work they do to rescue lions from captivity. The food at the lodge was 5*, very accommodating menu catering for all. One night we had a huge group bbq round the fire, lunches were all tapas style served to your table so you never got bored! Big selection of drinks to choose from too. The only mention would be the plunge pools, which are beautiful, but are a bit on the chilly side. Would be nicer if there were warmer! Thanks for the most magical stay!
