Our only stop on an 1100 mile ride.

We were driving from Rhode Island to Florida, after a 13 hour drive, we were welcomed graciously by Tiffany. I had spoken to her a few days earlier on the phone and she was also super helpful over the phone. The rooms were clean and well kept, every member of the staff we encountered were very pleasant. It is not a new hotel, but definitely has been well kept and maintained. I can not begin to thank Tiffany and the rest of the staff for the great service. We will definitely make sure this is our go to hotel on our trips back and forth, and if we are in the area.
MISLEAD BUT OKAY

So, I'll start with the cons because I try to end everything on a positive note. 1st, I paid for 3 different rooms on two different floors & had issues in each one! There were signs all around stating they strive for cleanliness, yet THE same hand prints that were on the elevator walls when we checked in were there when we left to check out. Then, there were many areas that needed cosmetics repairs & some of the appliances didn't work in two of the rooms. I mistakenly opened the window trying to get some fresh air, but unbeknownst to me there was a cut in the screen that allowed mosquitoes into the room that gave me and my kids a lot of bites. The water pressure was low in all rooms--so much so that it was hard to get the showers to come on & stay on. The pool was dirty by way of leaves and trash in it. We were told that there would be boxes with the hot food prepackaged & could be taken back to the rooms and there was not. Yet, the staff was nice (especially the ladies in housekeeping--my son had left some expensive name brand earbuds & they returned them to me). The location of the hotel was in close proximity to a lot of businesses where shopping can be done & restaurants to eat. The beds slept well and the check in & out process was quick and smooth. Overall, a decent place to stay, but in my opinion--not up to the Holiday Inn standards that I'm accustomed to in comparison to my past stays in other locations and DEFINITELY NOT worth all the money that it cost me.
Best in town

Most everything about this hotel and staff is great. The staff is very attentive when/if there is an issue of any kind. The room was clean and the bed totally comfortable. The downside is related to the builder firstly and Covid secondly neither of which the hotel manager or staff had any way of fixing. 1. The bathroom sinks were built too high (very difficult just trying to brush teeth, I am 5'3 and husband is 5'7) and 2. There is no fan in the bathroom to pull moisture. 3. Breakfast was pretty sad, but that is totally due to Covid. On the upside, there is 24 hour coffee and it is not too bad.

To set the stage, please understand that I was driving my daughter back to college in Georgia after the holidays. We started calling places about hotel rooms at 9:00 pm in Emporia, Virginia. Seemed like every place was booked solid. We found rooms in Wilson that we thought we could deal with. The first was flat out unsafe and filthy. The second was beyond filthy and a fire hazard. I contacted the Holiday Inn Express at about 2:30 in the morning. The young lady who answered was absolutely lovely and had available rooms. Pembroke wasn’t really on our way, but after 16 hours of driving, many of it in pouring rain, we were happy to alter our course. On arrival, the young woman at the desk couldn’t have been more empathic and charming. It was such a blessing. Our room was lovely. Clean, quiet, and had everything that we needed. I would go as far if not further out of my way for this level of hospitality and cleanliness. Thank you for welcoming us to your lovely inn.

Good location Close to UNCP. Friendly staff. Rooms were basic but clean. The negatives for the room was there is no overhead light so even with three lamps, it was darker than I would prefer. No USB plug, for charging and we stayed on the first floor. The second floor above us was VERY loud. (We stayed two nights and it was morning/night all the time-not people being rambunctious, just every door open/close and walking in the hallways we could hear) it reminded me of being in an apartment. I’ve just never heard guests above me in a hotel before. Otherwise it was ok.
