Disappointed

Reviewed 1 november, 2022

We stayed here at the Pensione in Perth recently. Although it is in a very central area in the city centre it made it helpful to walk to different places. Sadly that’s all that I can say. The room was called a petite queen room. It was extremely small and had to turn sideways to move around the bed. Nowhere to store suitcases. No microwave for heating foods, shower was mouldy, the doona on the bed was stained and yellow around the edges. Sadly I would not recommend unless you are on your own. Very disappointed in the room.

Terrible customer service

Travelled with my husband and 6 months old baby to Perth and stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Once hotel room was booked, I personally emailed hotel to check for cot availability one month prior to check-in date, and provided my booking ID for staff verification (staff would have known room details/ size via a simple check). Hotel responded to my email and confirmed cot availability for my booking, and advised on cot rental fees. We confirmed the cot reservation via email. We also emailed the hotel prior to our stay using the same email chain to inform that we will have the rented car seat and baby bouncer delivered to the hotel. Hotel again acknowledged the email. There were numerous email exchanges and opportunities for hotel to inform us of request that they will not be able to accommodate. Upon arrival, I was told that the cot was not available, although there was a remark in the system about cot reservation. Staff did not know how that happened, although they knew the hotel previously confirmed on cot availability. I requested to speak to the manager, who was not at all helpful, and yet pushed the blame on me for (1) not re-confirming on cot availability “a few days prior to my arrival” and (2) booking a room which was too small to fit the cot. I was told that nothing could be done about it because they are fully booked. No solutions were offered even though this was a clear case of mishandling by the hotel. I then requested for more pillows and blankets so that I could build a fortress to ensure that my baby doesn't fall off the bed, but they were not delivered until we requested it again from reception. Upon check-out, we were told that a charge would be made to our card for the cot. Staff at check-out was obviously not apprised of the situation. Major disappointment in a hotel with such great rating. Only good thing about this hotel was that they are ideally situated in CBD. But with a customer service like this, 100% would not return and would not recommend to anyone - book at your own risk.

Delight at the Pensione Perth

Reviewed 26 july, 2022

I stayed overnight at the Pensione Hotel Perth on 25 July 2022. My stay was one of the most pleasant, happy, contented I’ve enjoyed in a long time. Reception and Check In was courteous, prompt and professional. Payment was made on arrival, so no hassles at all. Got the key and headed straight up to my room. Even though it was the least expensive room for a single occupant, the room was a delight. Lovely enticing bed with crisp white sheets, warm and cosy even on a wintry cool day in Perth. I even had a view of nearby streets and buildings. Lovely surprise. The shower was effective, nice white clean hand basin, terrific toilet. Huge clean towels, nothing missing. Better than average electric kettle, two coffee mugs, teaspoons, few tea bags, packets of coffee powder and sugar. Many little tiny milk packs in fridge. Glasses, water jug too. There was sufficient space in small wardrobe for me. Bedside tables with two cool lamps. Telephone. Room air conditioner that with office assistance, could be operated. The bed was very warm to sleep in. Very comfortable. There was a snack cafe on site too which I unfortunately didn’t visit. Overall I would recommend this hotel to everybody visiting Perth. Centrally located and very close to a Pizza Hut outlet from where I got my delicious dinner. So go stay at The Pensione in Perth. Soon.

Unpretentious which is fine, but one of the smallest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in.

Good bed, OK bathroom, uncontrollable aircon/heater, enough space to swing a small kitten but not a full-grown cat! Unpretentious hotel but can’t imagine how a couple would manage to navigate the tiny room - I was travelling solo. Won’t be back
